GLORY 80

GLORY 80 will feature multiple marquee fights for GLORY Kickboxing. The main event will see the kickboxing legend Badr Hari look to avenge his head kick knockout loss to the Polish-born Arkadiusz Wrzosek. “The game plan? We don’t have a game plan because we’re gonna do what we did the last time,” We sat down with the Dutch-Moroccan fighter’s coach from SB Gym Said El Badaoui, “You have seen the fight. We’re not gonna change anything. Badr was having one a really good fight against Arkadiusz except for the one kick, he was winning the whole fight.”

The 37-year-old Hari is in a must-win position against the younger Wrzosek. “[Badr Hari] needs to win. He really needs to win the fight because people are going to start to doubt his comeback and start to doubt his power,” Remy Bonjasky tells MMA Sucka when breaking down this bout, “Badr [Hari] lost that fight and he’s there for revenge. From experience, I know that Badr when he comes for revenge he’s willing to kill.”

“Before the first fight I felt many weird feelings, you know. It was something different,” Wrzosek commented when he spoke with MMA Sucka. He had spent his professional career and youth looking up to Badr Hari and now he stands across the ring from him. “I dreamed about fighting for GLORY. This first fight with Badr was different. It was … hard to explain. It was like the biggest dream coming true. It was a very weird feeling, weird is a good word.”

Scheduled on GLORY 80 was the light heavyweight Championship rematch between Russia’s Artem Vakhitov against Luis Tavares. This fight has been canceled. Initially, Tavares pulled out of the fight due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Vakhitov was then set to face Tarik Khbabez. This bout was also canceled. GLORY said on Twitter, “Artem Vakhitov had a change of heart, and is no longer willing to fight Tarik Khbabez.”

GLORY Rivals will also be on full display at GLORY 80. GLORY Rivals sees GLORY champions will be facing champions from other organizations. In this case, the GLORY Super Bantamweight Champion will defend her title against the champion from RISE Manazo Kobayashi. “I want to fight the best from other promotions and prove who really is the best of the best,” reigning champion Tiffany van Soest tells us in an interview. “To have one the champion of this organization fighting against the other one from another organization. We need to see the collaboration between great organizations. So, I’m excited.” Bonjasky adds.

GLORY 80 will additionally feature top-ranked heavyweights with Jamal Ben Saddik vs Levi Rigters. “I want to become the champion before I’m 28,” Rigters told us ahead of his heavyweight clash. Plus, we will see the knockout king Serkan Ozcaglayan look to defeat the number one ranked middleweight Ertugrul Bayrak. “You’re going to see a great knockout,” Said Ozcaglayan in an interview with MMA Sucka. Also, Jay Overmeer will be making his promotional debut against Dutch-born fighter Jos van Belzen. Overmeer tells us that fighting at GLORY is his dream and “Finally I can show the world what I’m capable of.”
