Brandon Moreno reveals how he's dealing with losing streak

Brandon Moreno is looking to put his recent struggles behind him when he faces Joseph Morales at Noche UFC 4 on Saturday. The former UFC Flyweight Champion has lost his last two fights and will enter the matchup looking to get back to winning ways. For Moreno, improving his mentality has been an important part of preparing for his return to the Octagon.

Brandon Moreno Focused on His Mindset

The past few years have been rough for Moreno. After losing the UFC flyweight title to Alexandre Pantoja in July 2023, the Mexican fighter has faced ups and downs inside the Octagon, compiling a 2-4 record since. Unable to find his good form recently, Moreno believes that his own mentality has played a role in his recent setbacks. Rather than making excuses for his losses, the former champion has focused on working on himself and his mindset ahead of his fight against Morales.

"I think it's more about the perspective of my mentality," Moreno told UFC.com. "It's a really common problem in this sport. Sometimes, you are your own worst enemy. I don't want to put any excuses out there about my past losses, but I've been working hard. I've been working on myself, working on my mindset and mentality."

The Mexican fighter knows that the changes he has made will only matter if he can show them when the fight begins. Moreno is hoping to demonstrate his progress inside the Octagon on Saturday.

"Obviously, you have to show that in the middle of the fight, and that's my goal: show all of my improvements this Saturday and how much I've advanced over the past few months," Moreno said.

Brandon Moreno Knows What's at Stake

While Moreno is currently sitting at No. 10 in the division, Morales is not ranked in the top 15. However, the American enters the matchup with plenty of momentum, riding a five-fight winning streak. With that in mind, the former champion understands that he is defending his position in the division against an opponent who has a major opportunity to move up the rankings with a victory.

"Once you come to UFC, you know every single opponent is going to be super tough," Moreno said. "I understand my position, right? I'm trying to defend my spot in the rankings and in the company, while Joseph Morales is going to be super motivated to take my position. But hey, man, I prepared myself really well for this fight, made some changes to my game and am putting all of my effort into showing it."

A win over Morales would allow Moreno to snap his losing streak and move back up the UFC flyweight rankings.
