Brandon Moreno focused on Joseph Morales ahead of Noche UFC 4
The former UFC flyweight champion expects a motivated opponent as he looks to snap a two-fight losing streak.
Brandon Moreno will finally be fighting at Noche UFC. After being left out of the other cards, the Mexican fighter will step inside the Octagon on Saturday at Noche UFC 4 to face Joseph Morales. Currently riding a two-fight losing streak, Moreno is focused on returning to the win column and expects a tough fight against Morales.
Brandon Moreno Excited to Fight at Noche UFC
Moreno has seen better days inside the Octagon. Since losing the UFC flyweight title to Alexandre Pantoja in July 2023, the Mexican fighter has gone through a rough stretch, compiling a 2-4 record during that period. Although he has lost his last two appearances, Moreno was focused on getting a fight booked at Noche UFC. Speaking to MMA Junkie, the former champion revealed he was ready to accept any opponent so that he could fight at the event that celebrates Mexican Independence Day.
"For one or another reason, I wasn't able to fight in the last Noches," Moreno said. "But finally we made it, so I'm super excited for that. [...] To be honest, I was just ready to fight at Noche, you know? And I talked with my manager, and I talked with the UFC like, 'Hey, just offer me a fight. I don't care who, and I'll be ready.'"
Brandon Moreno Expects a Motivated Joseph Morales
While Moreno has faced ups and downs in his career in recent years, Morales enters the matchup with plenty of momentum. After being released by the UFC in 2019, the American fighter managed to turn things around and find his way back to the promotion. Morales went on to win TUF 33 and is now riding a five-fight winning streak.
Morales' recent situation is somewhat similar to Moreno's own UFC history. The Mexican fighter was also released by the organization in the past and managed to bounce back and become the UFC flyweight champion. With that in mind, Moreno knows that his opponent will come into the fight motivated and confident.
"Joseph Morales has an interesting history, because he has a similar history to me," Moreno said. "He was in the UFC then he got released, and he had to get some victories. He won 'The Ultimate Fighter,' he came back, right now he's 2-0, so he's super dangerous because he's motivated. He wants to prove to the world that he's ready to be on the big stage. I know that's going to be super interesting, and he's going to be super dangerous that night. I've prepared myself and am very conscious about it."
Moreno enters the fight looking to snap a two-fight losing streak and get back to winning ways. Morales, meanwhile, will look to continue his momentum as he returns to the Octagon.
