Conor McGregor, who had knee surgery to repair his torn ACL and meniscus after UFC 329, has teased a return:

Conor McGregor Teases Last Dance

This year, Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon after a five-year hiatus to run it back with Max Holloway at UFC 329. However, the comeback ended just 69 seconds into the fight. McGregor injured his right knee while attempting a wild jumping roundhouse kick and landed awkwardly.

He was unable to stand and was in pain. The referee saw the same and stopped the fight, awarding Holloway a TKO victory. After the fight, it was known that McGregor had torn his ACL and damaged his meniscus. He has since undergone surgery and is currently recovering.

A few hours before, 'The Notorious' teased a UFC return by sharing a sparring image on his Instagram stories and captioning it:

When Does Conor McGregor Want to Come Back?

Conor McGregor wants to return to the Octagon next year during International Fight Week. He has expressed interest in a trilogy fight against Max Holloway. The two fighters are currently tied at 1-1. The Irishman has blamed the dry ice at UFC and the wet floor for his loss and believes their rivalry deserves a proper conclusion after the rematch ended prematurely.

Holloway is also ready to wait. He will not fight again this year, and he said that right after his UFC 329 win. McGregor has one fight left on his UFC contract and wants his final dance to take place during International Fight Week next year. However, given the severity of his injury and his age (39), his comeback plans could be delayed.

Dana White has yet to comment on when McGregor could return, as White prefers not to look too far into the future since those plans can change any time. He has told the media that he will talk to the former double champion once he is fully healed and ready.

'The Notorious' has also said that he will not rush his return and will take 9-12 months. In an interview with Robert O’Neill, he said: “I’m ahead of the curve,”. “Swelling is down. I’m off the crutch two, three weeks. In fact, I was able to get off the crutch a little bit sooner than they had wished. … I’m in a great spot. But the baby needs to gel back together. …
