UFC fighter-turned-coach, the legendary Cub Swanson, has provided a health update on his pupil Lerryan Douglas after UFC Sacramento.

Cub Swanson has revealed that his student, Lerryan Douglas, suffered a broken orbital bone during his latest fight. "Killer" also provided fight fans with additional information regarding Douglas's health.

Cub Swanson issues statement on Lerryan Douglas after the prospect's defeat against Jamall Emmers at UFC Sacramento

Lerryan Douglas made a name for himself by competing in the UFC-affiliated Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS) last year. The Brazilian combatant -- trained by Cub Swanson at Bloodline Combat Sports in California -- made his UFC main roster debut earlier this year, stopping Julian Erosa via first-round TKO.

The featherweight prospect's next, and most recent, fight witnessed him take on the veteran Jamall Emmers at UFC Sacramento on Saturday, August 22. In a thrilling finish, which some deemed an upset, Emmers threw a thunderous right straight/cross that knocked Douglas down. A few ground strikes later, Emmers emerged victorious by way of first-round TKO.

UFC fighter-turned-coach Cub Swanson subsequently took to X and made a statement concerning the damage his student sustained in the loss. Apparently, Douglas was afflicted with a broken orbital during the fight and suffered a loss of vision in one eye. He'll also visit a specialist, which would uncover more about his health status.

Swanson wrote, "Lerryan Douglas had a fractured orbital and instantly lost vision in that eye. He is ok and I'm glad he didn't take more damage. We'll know more after he sees a specialist this week. Thanks for all the support."

Cub Swanson acknowledges Jamall Emmers's crafty finish against Lerryan Douglas at UFC Sacramento

The featherweight clash at UFC Sacramento may not have ended the way Lerryan Douglas would've envisioned it. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old, under the tutelage of the great Cub Swanson, is considered by many as a talented combatant who'll rebuild and stage a strong comeback sooner rather than later.

It marked the end of Douglas's six-fight MMA win streak. As for Swanson, he retired from MMA after his first-round TKO victory against Nate Landwehr at UFC 327 in April.

Incidentally, Landwehr is the fighter who last beat Jamall Emmers. He bested Emmers via first-round KO back in 2024. Since that setback, "Pretty Boy" has strung together a three-fight winning streak -- a first-round TKO over Gabriel Miranda, a unanimous decision over Hyder Amil, and a first-round TKO against Lerryan Douglas.

Swanson, for his part, appeared to acknowledge the incredible finish that Emmers scored against Douglas. In response to an X post featuring footage of the technical knockout sequence -- and a comment that alluded to how clean it was -- Swanson wrote, "It was. Respect."
