Lerryan Douglas confident he can beat Jamall Emmers anywhere

The Brazilian is ready to face any challenge the UFC puts in front of him as he looks to climb the featherweight ranks.
About to step into the Octagon for the second time since joining the UFC earlier this year, Lerryan Douglas seems full of confidence. On Saturday, the Brazilian is expected to face Jamall Emmers at UFC Sacramento in one of the biggest fights of his career. Although he will have a more experienced opponent across the cage, who is about to make his 10th Octagon appearance, Douglas has plenty of confidence in his all-around game, believing he has the advantage over Emmers regardless of where the fight takes place.
Lerryan Douglas Confident in All Areas of His Game
A former LFA Featherweight Champion, Douglas is primarily known as an aggressive striker, having won all of his last six fights by TKO or knockout. However, the Brazilian is fundamentally a well-rounded fighter, with high-level skills across multiple disciplines. Maybe that is the reason Douglas feels so confident he can handle whatever approach Emmers brings to the fight.
"Without taking anything away from him, but I believe I'm better than him in the grappling, better than him in wrestling, better than him in boxing, Muay Thai, whatever he wants," Douglas told Ag Fight. "If he tries to take me down, I'll defend the takedown and work on my grappling. If he wants to strike, I'll be ready to strike and I'll always be looking for the knockout."
Despite his confidence in his ability to overcome different scenarios, Douglas is not looking to impose a specific game plan and is ready to defend takedowns or trade strikes.
Lerryan Douglas Embraces UFC's Tough Challenges
Although Douglas is set to make only his second UFC appearance, the Brazilian is not interested in an easier path to climb the ranks. Instead, Douglas made it clear he is ready to accept any challenge the UFC puts in front of him.
"I don't want an easy fight, I don't want an easy path," Douglas said. "Whatever the UFC thinks I'm ready for, whatever they think is going to be a good fight, I'll take it. They're making me fight very experienced opponents, and I believe I can gain more experience through that and eventually reach the top. Next year, we'll set new goals and, who knows, maybe my goal next year will be to enter the rankings."
Lerryan Douglas Already has Bigger Goals in Mind
Following his participation in Dana White's Contender Series, Douglas made his UFC debut earlier this year when he defeated Julian Erosa by first-round knockout. With his second promotional appearance around the corner, the Brazilian has already set his sights on bigger goals for next year, including a new contract and a fight at Madison Square Garden.
"Ever since I signed with the UFC through the Contender Series, I've already had a goal in mind," Douglas said. "In 2026, I want to have three fights so I can start 2027 with a new contract and a new goal. I heard that the UFC event at Madison Square Garden in New York is going to be amazing. It would be a dream to fight there."
For now, however, Douglas remains focused on his second UFC appearance. A win over Emmers would give the Brazilian another step toward his long-term ambitions and potentially put him on the path toward the featherweight rankings.
