The newest UFC featherweight star says the $100,000 performance-of-the-night bonus means everything to him and he will take it in the only way he knows.
Lerryan Douglas is scheduled to take on Jamall Emmers on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night: Hernandez versus Rodrigues on August 22, 2026, in Sacramento this Saturday.
The 30-year-old Brazilian featherweight is focused on scoring the bonus, not to make a statement, but simply because he needs it the most.
Lerryan Douglas Needs the Money For His Family
Douglas spoke with the Full Send Podcast before the fight, where he stated that he will not spare anyone who crosses his way in the division.
When asked what the $100,000 could achieve for me, Douglas said, "F**k man, I need that money right now bro. I need to buy a house for my family. That has a lot of meaning to me instead of spending it on bullst. I'll fight for it and I'll make sure to get it."
The Brazilian isn’t negotiating PPV points, nor is he the event's headliner. Thus, his confession gives a glimpse into the reality of most fighters' careers, which is rarely highlighted in the media. Interestingly, Douglas’ resume suggests he is here for the long run.
Douglas’ Resume is Already Making Sense
Lerryan Douglas (14-5) knocked out Cam Teague in the first round of the Dana White Contender Series in September 2025, commencing his UFC journey. He ended the fight at the 0:36-second mark of round one.
Prior to joining the UFC, 'Gunslinger' held the featherweight title at LFA (Legacy Fighting Alliance) in 2024 and 2025. He has eight knockouts and three submission victories on his record.
Interestingly, the 30-year-old scored another first-round finish against Julian Erosa on his UFC debut in March, making a statement in the division.
Douglas is currently a -390 favorite for his second UFC fight against Emmers. And, as with his other two fights, he has promised to score a finish in this one as well. If Douglas defeats Emmers, he will undoubtedly secure his next bout against a ranked opponent. However, it remains to be seen if he takes the performance bonus.
