The former UFC lightweight champion believes the Brazilian rivals will deliver an entertaining all-around fight at UFC 335.

Eddie Alvarez believes Charles Oliveira vs. Diego Lopes is the perfect matchup for the BMF title. The former UFC and Bellator champion praised the fight and predicted that the two Brazilians will deliver an entertaining contest when they meet at UFC 335 on Dec. 12 in Las Vegas.

Oliveira and Lopes will headline the final UFC pay-per-view of 2026, with the BMF title on the line. Alvarez believes the matchup has everything needed to live up to the belt's reputation, from high-level striking to elite jiu-jitsu.

Oliveira captured the BMF belt in March when he defeated Max Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC 326. "Do Bronxs" is set to defend the title for the first time in a matchup that will pit the former UFC lightweight champion against the former UFC featherweight title challenger.

A former UFC lightweight champion himself, Alvarez shared his thoughts on the fight. Speaking to MMA Junkie, the American praised the matchup, saying it is worthy of the belt they will be fighting for.

"Hell yeah. That's a tornado and a volcano," Alvarez said. "What a fight. I'd love to see that for a main event. That's BMF-worthy for sure."

The former UFC lightweight champion also highlighted the jiu-jitsu skills of both fighters, believing the matchup could be exciting regardless of where the action takes place.

"Even both of their jiu-jitsu is unbelievable, so even seeing both of them on the ground would be great," Alvarez said. "Standing up would be great. I think that's going to be a full mixed martial arts fight. That's going to go everywhere we want it to go."

Alvarez believes Oliveira vs. Lopes could become a complete mixed martial arts fight, with both fighters having the skills to succeed in multiple areas. In fact, Oliveira has 32 finishes in his 37 wins, while Lopes has 24 stoppages in his 28 victories.

While Oliveira will be making his first appearance since defeating Holloway in March, Lopes is moving up to lightweight for the first time in the UFC after scoring a second-round knockout over Steve Garcia at UFC Freedom 250 in June.
