After defeating Tyron Woodley for the Strikeforce Welterweight title, Nate Marquardt’s run at 170-lbs hasn’t gone all that well.
At UFC 166, he took on former Bellator champ Hector Lombard in the preliminary portion of the UFC 166 fight card, suffering a TKO setback in the very first stanza. This was Lombard’s first match-up at Welterweight, and it proved to be a successful one as a barrage of lighting fast and hard punches were enough for the Cuban to force a referee’s stoppage.
