Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold said that there was unfinished business with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and tonight Souza claimed his spot as the number one contender in the middleweight division.

It didn’t take long for Jacare to finish Derek Brunson in the co-main event of Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman. The two began the first round swinging and as Brunson was driving forward with punches, Souza stepped back and threw an overhand right which dropped him. He let Brunson get back to his feet, but immediately followed up and forced the referee to stop the fight.

Following the fight Jacare spoke to Mauro Ranallo about the possibiity of fighting Luke Rockhold again.

“I’m very prepared for everyone, any time. I’m the former Strikeforce middleweight champ and I come back for it once more.”

The first time Rockhold and Souza fought, many believed that Jacare won the decision. However the judges did not, and Rockhold walked away with the middleweight strap. Keep it locked to MMASucka.com to find out when the middleweight belt will be put on the line.
