Joe Rogan Urges UFC to Stop Extreme Weight Cutting

Joe Rogan has spoken up against the extreme weight cuts and has urged UFC to find a way to stop them.
Joe Rogan has always opposed the idea of fighters going to extreme lengths to meet their weight. Over the years, there has been a lot of controversy creeping up with fighters using different methods to cut their weight. One of the most famous examples was when Daniel Cormier used the help of a towel to make weight. Now, doubling down on his take, Rogan has urged the UFC to put a stop to this practice.
Joe Rogan Wants Fighters to Have Uniform Weight Year-Round
Rogan recently went off on how the fighters carry way more weight during their time off from the octagon. And the moment it comes to the weigh-ins, they use dirty techniques to meet the weight on that particular day. According to Rogan, these practices are the âgrossestâ ones in the MMA business.
The UFC color commentator said, âWeight cutting is the grossest thing in MMA. should figure out a way to stop it. The way to prevent it, I would say, is: âEverybody, hereâs your mandate. Nobody is getting out of shape anymore because weâre gonna have random weigh-ins.â
Rogan also pointed out how the UFC must find a way to conduct regular checks to ensure that no one has gone off-limits with their weight. He added, âWe'll show up at your gym. Let's say you fight at 170, you cannot weigh more than 180? On any given day, I'll show up at your house at 6 in the morning. 'Josh, get on the scale! 175? This is not good.ââ
Recently, to prove his point, Rogan shed light on Michael Moralesâ extreme weight cut.
Joe Rogan Amazed at Michael Moralesâ Weight-Cutting Techniques
Morales competes in the welterweight division where he is supposed to carry 170 lbs. But looking at the towering frame of the fighter, Rogan is unsure he is really a good fit for the division. In episode 184 of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the UFC color commentator stated that he feels Morales should be in the light heavyweight division.
Rogan said, âThe problem is Morales is a f**king light heavyweight... Gigantic. You wanna talk about the one guy who's the poster boy of cutting weight, it's Morales. He's so big for 170. It doesn't even make sense. You see him in the Octagon; you're like, that's a light heavyweight, or at the very least a very big middleweight."
Thus, with so much noise going on, it remains to be seen whatâs next.
