Rodolfo Vieira changes camp ahead of UFC Vegas 121

Rodolfo Vieira will step inside the Octagon on Saturday looking to turn the tide in his career. Riding a two-fight losing streak, the multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion is expected to face Robert Bryczek at UFC Vegas 121. With the matchup just around the corner, Vieira revealed that he made changes to his training camp that will prove to be crucial for his performance in Las Vegas.

Rodolfo Vieira Changes Training Routine

Vieira has been struggling inside the Octagon lately, going 1-3 in his last four fights. After he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Eric McConico in April, the Brazilian decided to change his training routine for his upcoming fight, spending the week training in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Vieira worked with Daniel Mendes and Gesias Cavalcante from Monday through Friday before returning home to spend the weekend with his family.

"I changed my camp," Vieira told Ag Fight. "This time I went to Deerfield Beach to train with Daniel Mendes and Gesias. I stayed there from Monday to Friday, did my last training session on Friday and went back home to recharge my battery with my family. I'm a new Rodolfo now: much more trained, feeling much better and more prepared."

Rodolfo Vieira Is Not Worried About Being Released by UFC

Despite his recent struggles, Vieira is not concerned about potentially losing his UFC contract. The 37-year-old believes his previous defeats have helped him identify areas for improvement and says he has always dealt well with losses.

"I've always dealt very well with losses, since my jiu-jitsu days," Vieira said. "A loss is good because it shows you several things you can improve. I changed some things I was doing and I'm willing to get there and give everything I have. I'm not thinking that because I have two losses I could be fired. I don't even think about that."

Vieira has experienced difficult losses before during his decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu career. He lost several important absolute division matches to Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida at major tournaments, including the 2013 and 2014 IBJJF World Championships, but continued competing at the highest level afterward.

Now, Vieira will look to put that same mentality into practice when he steps back inside the Octagon. The Brazilian will face Bryczek at UFC Vegas 121 on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
