Dana White provides major Raoni Barcelos health update after scary UFC Vegas 121 scene

Raoni Barcelos left fans worried and praying for him, as he was unconscious on the canvas after his brutal war against Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121 this past Saturday. Barcelos remained unresponsive after being taken down by Rosas Jr. in the fifth round. The referee stepped in quickly and stopped the fight. Doctors rushed to the octagon, and the Brazilian fighter was later stretchered out and immediately taken to the hospital.

Now, UFC CEO Dana White has provided a major update on Barcelos' health, who is under medical observation.

Following the conclusion of Dana White's Contender Series Season 10, Week 8, White was asked for an update on Barcelos' health. The UFC CEO provided a positive update, sharing that the Brazilian fighter is doing fine and is able to walk and talk.

White also praised the UFC's medical team for its response to the frightening situation, highlighting the extensive medical precautions in place during UFC events.

“Yeah, thank God he’s doing well, he’s doing well. He’s up walking around, talking. I mean, it goes right in line with everything that I always talk about and what we do, all the pre-fight medicals were triple checked, everything was good, there were six doctors here that night, three ambulances, he was taken straight to the trauma center not to Valley, everything was done the right way and the outcome was good,” White said.

The update will come as a major relief to Barcelos' fans. As for the fight, he was leading on the judges' scorecards before the stoppage.

The grueling back-and-forth war was awarded Fight of the Night honors, with both fighters earning $100,000 each.

Barcelos has earned widespread praise from the MMA community for the heart he showed in the fight, despite there being almost an 18-year age difference between the two. The veteran made Rosas Jr. work for the victory and almost pulled off the upset before getting knocked out in the final round.

Renato Moicano praises Raoni Barcelos 

Moicano took to X to pay tribute to Barcelos, describing his performance as an example for young Brazilian fighters. He also expressed pride in 39-year-old and highlighted the significance of his fighting spirit beyond the octagon.

“Raoni Barcelos yesterday showed the essence of what it means to be a Brazilian fighter, a warrior. He left carried on his shield, but he left with all honor and all glory. Raoni Barcelos fills me with pride and hope in being Brazilian, not just in the fight. We have to make these Brazilians an example for young people,” Moicano wrote on X.
