UFC 328 proved to be an electrifying event, with one title challenger in particular scoring a legendary distinction
The Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey was the epicenter for one of the most exciting mixed martial arts events in recent memory, UFC 328. In the main event, Sean Strickland managed to make lightning strike twice by delivering another mammoth upset over the defending Khamzat Chimaev.
In the penultimate matchup of the night, flyweight champion Joshua Van weathered an early storm from elite challenger Tatsuro Taira to successfully retain his strap.

UFC 328: King Green def. Jeremy Stephens
King Green
Green's win over Stephens brought his current winning streak up to three in a row. It's also his 16th victory in the UFC since joining the company in 2013.
The triumph also stood out as his 10th by submission as a professional. He has finished two of his last three opponents

Stephens' loss to Green is his seventh straight defeat in the UFC, with his rut stretching back to 2018. In the past eight years, he has won just a single MMA contest, that contest being a split decision victory over Myles Price in the PFL in 2022.
Out of his last five losses in mixed martial arts, three have come by way of submission.
UFC 328: Sean Brady def. Joaquin Buckley

Brady's triumph over Buckley brought him back into the win column after previously losing to Michael Morales last year at UFC 322. The win was also his tenth as a professional by decision.
Over the course of the scrap, Brady logged more than 12 minutes of control time, making it the most he has accrued in a UFC fight.
Joaquin Buckley
Buckley's loss to Brady is his second in a row, making it his first two-bout skid in almost four years. It's also the most he had ever been struck in an Octagon tilt, absorbing over 240 strikes.
In his last two matches against Kamaru Usman and Brady, he has surrendered four takedowns to each man, averaging over 12 minutes of ground control to his opposition
UFC 328: Alexander Volkov def. Waldo Cortes-Acosta
Alexander Volkov
Volkov's win over Cortes-Acosta extended his current winning streak to two in a row, with both of those fights going the distance. He also received over 50 significant strikes, making it the most he has taken in a UFC bout since his victory over Marcin Tybura back in 2021.
His triumph over Cortes-Acosta also was his 40th as a professional.
Waldo Cortes-Acosta
Cortes-Acosta's loss to Volkov ended his previous three-match win streak. It also was his sixth contest in the Octagon since June 2025. All of his losses post-amateur have occurred in the UFC.
He has yet to be finished as a professional, with all of his defeats coming because of the judge’s scorecards.
UFC 328: Joshua Van def. Tatsuro Taira
Joshua Van
Van's win over Taira is his seventh in succession. It's also the most he has been kept on the canvas in the UFC, with his challenger garnering 10 minutes of control time on him.
All of his UFC title fights victories so far have ended via knockout. 11 of his 17 wins are the result of stoppage.
Tatsuro Taira
Van's loss to Van was his second loss as a professional, as well as his first since 2024 after losing to Brandon Royval at UFC Vegas 98. His setback at UFC 328 also was the first time had been knocked down in a promotional bout since his tilt with Edgar Chairez at UFC 290.

Sean Strickland
Strickland's win over Chimaev is his 15th victory as a professional by decision. The scrap is also the most he had ever been taken down in the organization, with Chimaev having brought him down nine times.
He's now only the second man to reclaim the UFC Middleweight Championship after losing it, the other being former kingpin Israel Adesanya.
Khamzat Chimaev
Chimaev's loss to Strickland marked the first defeat of his entire mixed martial arts career; amateur and professional. It's also the first time had been brought to a split decision.
The setback against Strickland stands as the most he has ever been hit in a UFC fight, absorbing over 160 strikes. He held the 185-lb belt for 266 days, making it the third shortest title reign in the division’s history between the last five men to acquire the undisputed championship.
