UFC Shanghai: A Showcase Wrapped in Milestones
Heading into the action, no fighter on the roster represents the promotion's long-term growth in the region quite like Song Yadong. Making his promotional debut way back on November 25, 2017, the power-punching bantamweight officially holds the card's most seniority. When "The Kung Fu Kid" steps into the cage on fight night, it will mark his 18th UFC bout, extending his lead for the most octagon appearances on the entire Shanghai showcase.
While Song brings elite experience to the main event, the rest of the roster showcases a striking mix of generational contrasts. Former ONE Championship titleholder Jingnan Xiong enters as the oldest athlete on the card at 38 years old, whereas flyweight prospect Rei Tsuruya takes the honor of being the youngest fighter in the building at just 24.
The event also serves as a crucial bridge for talent climbing up the global pipeline.
