Usman Nurmagomedov Weighs in on UFC 330 Main Event

Usman Nurmagomedov (21-0, 1 NC MMA, 3-0 PFL) has a busy month of July ahead of him. On July 31, he'll be fighting in the main event of PFL New York from UBS Arena in Long Island versus Archie Colgan (13-0 MMA, 2-0 PFL.)
At stake that Friday night inside the SmartCage: The PFL Lightweight Championship. Once the calendar shifts to August, Nurmagomedov's attention will switch to the UFC's Aug. 15 event in Philadelphia, UFC 330.
Usman Nurmagomedov has interest in that night's headlining contest, as well. The UFC Welterweight Championship will be available for the taking inside Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena, the home venue of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers between current champion Islam Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) and No. 1 contender Ian Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC.) This is a five-round fight at five minutes per round to close the show.
Usman Nurmagomedov Talks About Upcoming Islam Makhachev in UFC 330 Main Event Aug. 15
Usman Nurmagomedov was a guest of USA Today's MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn on The Bohnfire recently. During the interview, Nurmagomedov talked about the Aug. 15 clash in The Keystone State and his sparring partner's fighting acumen.
"Ian Garry is a tough guy," Usman Nurmagomedov began. "Of course, he can do something, but I think he's not going to be prepared for everything, like striking, grappling and wrestling."
Nurmagomedov mentioned that Ian Machado Garry has weaknesses that Islam Makhachev can exploit if and when the main attraction of UFC 330 goes to the canvas on the night of Aug. 15 in Philadelphia.
"We know Ian Garry has a problem with wrestling," he continued. "Islam has very good control on the ground and in the wrestling, how to take the guy to the ground. He has good striking."
Usman Nurmagomedov on UFC 330 Main Event as a Whole
When viewing the UFC 330 main event on a macro scale, Usman Nurmagomedov believes the night of Aug. 15 will feature an entertaining 25 minutes or less of action inside the fabled Octagon during the headlining contest.
"It's a very good fight, in my opinion," Nurmagomedov said. "It's going to be a huge fight, we'll see. It's going to be a good fight and I think it's going to be his best camp."
Islam Makhachev Chasing History Next Month in UFC 330 Main Event
Currently, Islam Makhachev has won 16 fights in succession. This winning streak places him in a tie with Anderson Silva for the longest such run in UFC promotional history.
Earlier this year, Silva, who finished his MMA career with a record of 34-11 with one no-contest, was interviewed by USA Today's MMA Junkie and gave Makhachev plaudit for equaling his mark.
"Everything's possible," Anderson Silva said back in March. "I'm happy because somebody broke this record."
During the interview on The Bohnfire, Usman Nurmagomedov took time out to acknowledge the possibility that Islam Makhachev could soon hold the record himself.

How Much Longer Can Makhachev Stretch Streak if Record is Reached?
When Bohn mentioned that if Makhachev extends his winning streak beyond the record and reaches 20 victories in succession it would be all the more impressive, Usman Nurmagomedov chimed in with his own thoughts.
"If he did, nobody's ever going to break this," Nurmagomedov said.
