Ismael Bonfim vs. Francisco Prado set for UFC Vegas 122
The Brazilian lightweight will face the Argentine in a crucial matchup as both fighters look to snap losing streaks.
Ismael Bonfim will face Francisco Prado at UFC Vegas 122 on Oct. 10. The matchup was announced by the Argentine on his Instagram on Wednesday and will take place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Both fighters are in desperate need of a victory as another loss could complicate their situation within the promotion.
Ismael Bonfim Looks to End Losing Streak
Bonfim enters the matchup looking to turn his fortunes around after losing his last three fights. The Brazilian most recently suffered a first-round submission loss to Axel Sola in July, following defeats to Chris Padilla and Nazim Sadykhov.
The 30-year-old holds a 20-7 professional record and has won nine fights by knockout and four by submission. Bonfim made his UFC debut in January 2023 after participating in Dana White's Contender Series and has gone 2-4 in six appearances with the promotion.
Francisco Prado Faces Crucial Test
Prado, meanwhile, is yet to find his rhythm in the UFC as he looks to bounce back from a difficult run. Since joining the promotion, the Argentine has won only one bout and is currently riding a four-fight losing streak. Most recently, Prado suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Charles Radtke at UFC 327 in April.
Prado's last UFC victory came in July 2023, when he scored a TKO win against Ottman Azaitar in his second UFC appearance. At 24 years old, the Argentine holds a 12-5 professional record, with all of his victories coming by stoppage.
With both fighters coming off extended losing streaks, Bonfim vs. Prado could be an important opportunity for either lightweight to get his UFC career back on track. After all, another loss could put their UFC careers in serious jeopardy.
