Jamelle Jones Looking to Stop Khabib Nabiev's Undefeated Run Next Friday

Jamelle Jones (15-8 MMA, 1-2 PFL) last fought in an MMA bout in October of 2024. That night, Jones, formerly of Cage Fury Fighting Championships, battled in Fighting Force Championship 3.

Reuben Roundstone (6-10 MMA) served as Jamelle Jones' adversary in the cage. Although the fight was scheduled for an advertised length of three rounds at five minutes per round in Fort Hall, ID, Jones needed less than half of a full round to complete his assignment.

He locked in a submission in two minutes and 20 seconds, spelling the end of the fight and of the event, as a whole. Since that night, Roundstone had been on a sustained losing streak, dropping nine of his next 10 appearances across all competitions in combat sports before returning to victory lane with a first-round knockout win over Dino Saracco two months ago.

Jamelle Jones Makes PFL Return July 31 in New York

While Reuben Roundstone kept active in the world of combat sports in the nearly two years since that loss to Jamelle Jones, the victor in that fight had to wait a long time to get the call to fight again. Earlier this month, it was announced that Jones would be returning to the PFL banner on July 31 in PFL New York from UBS Arena in Belmont Park, the home ice of the NHL's New York Islanders.

Standing across from him inside the SmartCage on the last evening of the year's seventh month will be Khabib Nabiev (12-0 MMA, 1-0 PFL) in the latter's sophomore PFL fight. This undercard bout is a three-round fight at five minutes per round. This is Jamelle Jones' first fight in the PFL since the promotion's 2022 regular season.

On April 28, 2022, he was on the receiving end of a first-round knockout from Renan Ferreira in Arlington, TX. Jones' second fight of the regular season was to have pitted him against Ali Isaev before the contest was canceled due to the latter withdrawing from the card.

Sizing Up Jamelle Jones After Over a Year and a Half Away

Jamelle Jones enters his first PFL bout in more than four years on the strength of a 3-2 record in his last five fights. At the moment, he's won three bouts in succession.

Prior to his bout against Reuben Roundstone in October of 2024, he scored a second-round knockout with a punch to Jesse Murray (10-7 MMA) in November of 2023 in CFFC 127 from Tunica, MS on UFC Fight Pass. Subsequent to the fight being announced, Jamelle Jones appeared as a guest of Zac Coffman on 4 oz. To Freedom.

"Jamelle's good," Jamelle Jones began. "Jamelle's been a family man, a husband, taking care of my kid, my son. He just graduated kindergarten. Training always, yes, sir."

Beyond the discussion of family life, Jones gave a reason why people should turn on the ESPN telecast of PFL Long Island on July 31.

"Fans should tune in because it's kill or be killed," he said. "I'm not playing. If he slips up, I'm going to (expletive deleted) him up."

Khabib Nabiev Puts Undefeated Record at Risk July 31

Across the way, Khabib Nabiev still has yet to lose as a professional MMA fighter. On Feb. 7, Nabiev made his PFL promotional debut with a second-round knockout victory (punches from mount) over Ahmed Sami (12-5, 1 NC MMA, 1-1 PFL) during PFL Dubai from Coca-Cola Arena.

Prior to joining the PFL's active roster earlier on in 2026, Nabiev fought under the UAE Warriors banner, going 3-0. Numerically speaking, Khabib Nabiev has scored 10 of his 12 wins inside the distance, with five wins each being recorded by knockout and submission.

When a fighter of Khabib Nabiev's caliber is on a hot streak, as he is right now, he's a dangerous fighter. Only time will tell, however, if Jamelle Jones is able to solve the puzzle against Khabib Nabiev.
