UFC Vegas 118 Delivers Electric Undercard Saturday!

UFC Vegas 118 is the last event from the promotion before UFC Freedom 250 next Sunday. We take a look at Saturday's undercard.
UFC Vegas 118 fight week is here. Saturday night, eight days before the UFC makes the trek to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, DC for UFC Freedom 250, Dana White and company have a UFC Fight Night in the promotion's Las Vegas homebase.
Meta Apex serves as the setting for UFC Vegas 118. Live coverage of the show will commence in the late afternoon at 5 pm ET/ 2 pm PT. Inside the United States of America, the event can be seen from start to finish via Paramount Plus.
Main card action caps the evening at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT on the streaming service. If there are no adjustments needing to be made to the evening's itinerary, the final version of UFC Vegas 118 will feature a slate of 12 fights from the No. 1 MMA promotion in the world.
UFC Vegas 118 Featured Prelim: Matt Schnell vs. Alessandro Costa: (Catchweight: 130 lbs)- Looking at "Danger"
At the top of the bill for the evening's undercard, you'll be treated to a contracted catchweight at 130 lbs between Matt Schnell (17-10, 1 NC MMA, 7-8, 1 NC UFC) and Alessandro Costa (15-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC.) All fights mentioned herein are an advertised maximum of three rounds at five minutes per round.
Schnell enters UFC Vegas 118 on Saturday night having posted a record of 1-4 in his last five outings. Last time out, he was submitted (guillotine choke) by Joseph Morales (14-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) inside the second round on Nov. 8, 2025 from the selfsame Meta Apex where UFC Vegas 118 will take place this weekend.
Alessandro Costa wasn't Matt Schnell's initial opponent for the card on Saturday night. At first, Schnell was to have fought Imanol Rodriguez in a flyweight contest before Rodriguez had to withdraw from the show due to an injury, with no specific information given.
How much has Matt Schnell's gameplan had to be altered with this late change in opponent? Only time will tell.
Alessandro Costa Enters UFC Vegas 118 Featured Prelim on Short Notice
Meanwhile, Alessandro Costa will be facing a quick turnaround for UFC Vegas 118 on Saturday night. He's posted a record of 3-2 in his last five appearances.
Over the Easter holiday weekend in April, he scored a vicious second-round knockout with a left hook over Stewart Nicoll (8-3 MMA, 0-3 UFC) with four seconds remaining on the clock. As recently as this time a week ago, Costa wasn't booked to fight on Saturday's card.
He'll be coming in on nine days' notice for this event. By the time Saturday rolls around, just 63 days will have elapsed between contests. Can he secure his 16th victory?
UFC Vegas 118 Co-Featured Prelim: Marcus McGhee vs. John Yannis: McGhee Makes Octagon Return Saturday Night
Immediately beforehand, the co-featured undercard bout takes place in the bantamweight ranks as Marcus McGhee (10-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) collides with John Yannis (10-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC.) McGhee was first slated to battle Jakub Wiklacz (18-3-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC Vegas 118 this weekend before the latter withdrew due to injury.
He's sporting a 4-1 record in his past five matches. Last summer, his winning streak ended at the hands of eventual UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan (20-5 MMA, 12-4 UFC) by way of unanimous decision during the final UFC event to air on ABC.
McGhee's been away from action for almost a year. How well will he fare in his return to action?
John Yannis Making Quick Turnaround for UFC Vegas 118
Across the way, John Yannis comes into UFC Vegas 118 on the strength of a 4-1 record of his own in his last five fights. On April 18, he secured his first promotional victory with a first-round TKO (elbows from top mount) against Jaime Siraj (14-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at the Apex.
It's been a little over a month and a half between fights for Yannis, but he made quick of Siraj in his last fight earlier this spring. Will he deliver another highlight-reel victory here?
Tune into the UFC Vegas 118 co-featured prelim and find out.
UFC Vegas 118: No. 15 Contender Bruno Silva vs. Edgar Chairez: Silva Aiming to Stay in Rankings
Also on the undercard, you'll watch a flyweight fixture matching No. 15 contender Bruno Silva (15-8-2, 2 NC MMA, 5-5-1, 1 NC UFC) against Edgar Chairez (13-6, 1 NC MMA, 3-2, 1 NC.) Silva will be making the walk Saturday evening with a 2-3 mark in the last five outings.
On March 14, he was defeated (split decision) by Charles Johnson (19-8 MMA, 8-6 UFC) during UFC Vegas 114 at Meta Apex. This is a critical 15 minutes (or less) of action inside the Octagon for him.
If Silva is to keep a number next to his name beyond this weekend, he's got to score a victory.
Edgar Chairez Looking to Crash Party at 125
In the other corner, Edgar Chairez has a 3-1 record with one no-contest in his last five showcases. He's won two in a row ahead of UFC Vegas 118 this weekend.
Back on Feb. 28 in Mexico City, he scored a split decision win against Felipe Bunes (14-9 MMA, 1-3 UFC) after 15 minutes. With Chairez' opponent sitting at the bottom of the rankings at flyweight, if he emerges victorious here, Chairez could find himself ranked in the division as soon as Monday.
