During the broadcast of KSW 57 on the KSW app and KSWtv, it was announced KSW 58 will take place on Saturday, January 30, 2020 at a currently undisclosed location in Poland. First, the main event is set to feature Olympic gold medalist weightlifter Szymon Kolecki as he takes on veteran Martin Zawada. Second, featherweight champion Salahdine Parnasse will defend his title against the always exciting Daniel Torres.

KSW 58 Announced for January

Main Event Slug-Fest

Szymon Kolecki

Former world-class power-lifter Szymon Kolecki won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympic games. He came back in the 2008 games to earn the gold, both in the 94kg (207.2lbs) category. After completing a very successful power-lifting career, Kolecki took on MMA, fighting in his first bout in March 2017. Since then he has amassed a record of 8-1 with every single win except one coming by first-round KO/TKO. The other win was a second-round KO, which came at KSW 52 in December 2019 against fellow Olympic medalist Damian Janikowski.

Martin Zawada

Standing across the cage from Kolecki will be his absolute toughest, most veteran task to date in Martin Zawada. Zawada will be making his 46th professional MMA appearance. Competing for a multitude of organizations over his 17-year professional career, Zawada is one of the most-veteran fighters to ever compete under the KSW banner, making his debut with the company at KSW 6 in October 2006, where he defeated Lukasz Jurkowski. This bout can end by a knockout not only from Kolecki’s end, but Zawada has the KO power as well, winning 18 of his career bouts by KO/TKO. That’s TWICE as many bouts as Kolecki has even competed in. It will be a big couple of weeks for the Zawada brothers. Former KSW veteran and brother David Zawada battles the week before in the UFC.

Co-Main Event Showcase of Young Talent

Champion Salahdine Parnasse

Salahdine Parnasse (14-0-1) is now the lone king of the featherweight division. The 23-year-old French striker is ready to make his second title defense against the Brazilian-born Daniel “Tucanao” Torres. In an interview with MMASucka almost three years ago, around the time of his KSW debut, Parnasse stated, “I hope to take that belt.” Parnasse has spoken that into existence, winning the interim title against Roman Szymanski. Parnasse’s most recent title defense came against a veteran of the sport in Ivan Buchinger.

Daniel “Tucanao” Torres

The striker fighting out of Austria, Daniel Torres, has looked great in KSW thus far with a 3-1 record. He is coming off of a split-decision victory over Max Coga at KSW 56 in November 2020. Six of Torres’ career 11 wins have come by KO/TKO and submission. In addition, Torres scored a unanimous decision over one of KSW’s best talents in Filip Pejic at KSW 51 in November 2019.
