Jake Paul, yes, Jake Paul will get a ranking with the WBC if he gets his hand raised in his upcoming bout. Taking on a late replacement in Hasim Rahman Jr, WBC president, Mauricio Sulaiman has revealed that the celebrity boxer will get a ranking with the WBC… but only if he wins.
We all know why this is the case. It’s excellent publicity for the WBC because Paul can then take to social media to boast his ranking and give the WBC some free media.

Jake Paul’s Career
Paul’s first professional boxing match was against fellow Youtuber, AnEsonGib. Paul scored a first-round TKO victory. He then took on former basketballer, Nate Robinson, again winning via finish.
Next up came an actual test (on paper). He took on former ONE Championship champion and ex-UFC fighter, Ben Askren. On the face of it, Askren could have caused Paul problems, however, for those in the know it was clear that Askren wasn’t the one to showcase MMA striking. His striking was always amateurish in the Octagon as his base was wrestling. Askren was knocked out in the first round.
Former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley was next up for Jake Paul. Woodley has elite knockout power, but again, leaned on wrestling much more during his MMA career. Paul held a huge size advantage over Woodley when they clashed and managed to win a split decision. He was then set to face boxer, Tommy Fury, however, Fury had to withdraw and Woodley got the rematch. This time, Paul put a stamp on the rivalry with Woodley, knocking him out cold in the sixth round.
He was then scheduled to face Fury again, however, Fury claims to have not been able to get into America for the fight and Rahman Jr stepped in.

Remember, Jake Paul will get a WBC ranking with a win over Rahman Jr on August 6th, despite Rahman not being ranked himself and being the first actual boxer that Paul will face.
Rahman Jr is 12-1, having suffered a finish loss last time out against James Morrison. His 12 wins have come against journeymen, of which only two have had winning records. It’s worth noting that these records were 26-21-3 and 4-2-2, going the distance with both. Does a win over Rahman Jr really warrant a WBC ranking? It’s highly doubtful.
