Dana White Rules Out Contingency Plans for UFC 333

Dana White has cleared the air by confirming that the UFC has no plans to change course for UFC 333 despite security concerns in the Middle East. The promotion is still scheduled to hold the event in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 24:
The card is set to feature two major title fights, Alexander Volkanovski vs. Movsar Evloev and Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili 3.
Dana White Confirms UFC 333 Will Go Ahead
The UFC’s plans have come under scrutiny as tensions in the Middle East escalate once again following a series of missile and drone attacks targeting Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Speaking to a CBS Sports reporter during the post-fight press conference after the season 10 finale of Dana White’s Contender Series, White was asked whether the promotion had considered contingency plans for UFC 333.
“Nope. We’re going,” White responded.
White was then asked whether he had spoken with authorities in Abu Dhabi. He doubled down on his previous remark:
“We go,” he said.
The 57-year-old was also asked about the month ahead for TKO, the parent company of the UFC, which has several major events planned in Abu Dhabi. He confirmed that he would attend the UFC event and noted that Power Slap and WWE were also scheduled to be there.
“Yeah, I mean, I’ll be there with UFC. Power Slap’s going there twice. The WWE is going there. So yeah, we’ll all be there,” White added.
UFC 333 Set for Two Championship Fights
The card will feature two title fights: Champion Alexander Volkanovski will be defending his featherweight title against undefeated contender Movsar Evloev in the main event.
Also, Bantamweight champion Petr Yan will face Merab Dvalishvili for the third time. With both fighters holding a win over the other, the trilogy bout will decide who takes the lead in their rivalry.
With two title fights and several other marquee matchups, UFC 333 is one of the promotion’s major upcoming events. White’s comments have eased concerns surrounding the event, reassuring fans that the card is still expected to go ahead as planned.
