Dione Barbosa has taken a jibe at Movsar Evloev after his controversial comments about women competing in mixed martial arts.
Dione Barbosa has taken aim at Movsar Evloev in the aftermath of his controversial remarks regarding women's MMA.
A number of fans and experts had strongly condemned Evloev's recent comments, deeming them disparaging and discriminatory against female athletes. Barbosa, apparently in the same vein, seemed to express her criticism of Evloev, albeit in a lighthearted manner.
Dione Barbosa trolls Movsar Evloev over his comments about women's MMA
During an appearance on The Bohnfire podcast with MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn, UFC featherweight contender Movsar Evloev sparked controversy. The Ingushetia, Russia-born fighter suggested that he found the iconic UFC women's strawweight title rematch between Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk high-level, but almost all women's fights he's watched supposedly weren't up to the mark for him.
Evloev went as far as implying that the UFC should create a separate organization for its female fighters rather than according them spots on the main UFC cards. He stated, "I don't watch women's fights... Maybe, they need separate UFC just for women."
Dione Barbosa -- a prominent female mixed martial artist who even represented her nation Brazil in Judo at the Olympics -- criticized Evloev thereafter. Many other fans and experts also sounded off against him.
Barbosa now appears to have launched another jibe at Evloev. Taking to X, she wrote, "I met my friend Evloev in the elevator... He didn't say anything about WMMA, I'll wait for the next chapters."

In response to a fan indicating that Evloev probably didn't know her, she quipped, "I didn't know who he was either, until someone tell me."

Dione Barbosa's past criticism of Movsar Evloev; the featherweight's imminent title fight with Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 333
Dione Barbosa is fresh off a submission victory against Anna Melisano, whom she bested back in July. On the other hand, Evloev fought for the first time since 2024 back in March of this year, outpointing Lerone Murphy.
A devout Muslim, Evloev often alluded to the fact that his faith played a crucial role in his recovery from a mystery virus, which had kept him out of action. Regardless, the 32-year-old fighter is currently en route to his maiden title fight. Evloev's booked to face UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski in the headlining match of UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on October 24.
As for Dione Barbosa, she's bagged a pair of consecutive wins inside the Octagon, and many foresee the Judo extraordinaire ascending the UFC women's flyweight division's ranks in the days to come.
Going by the moniker "The Witch," Barbosa made waves earlier this month by jabbing at Evloev over his comments about women's MMA being unimpressive to him. The 34-year-old reacted to footage of his remarks regarding it on X; Barbosa seemed to take a shot at him and wrote, "You hardly fight, I don't think it makes a difference to you."
