Henry Cejudo set to make Misfits Boxing debut against Deen The Great
The former UFC two-division champion will make his Misfits Boxing debut less than a year after retiring from MMA.
Henry Cejudo has a new challenge ahead of him. The former UFC two-division champion is set to face Deen the Great in a boxing match at a Misfits Boxing event on Sept. 26, the promotion announced Wednesday. The matchup comes less than a year after Cejudo retired from MMA.
Henry Cejudo Takes on New Challenge
Following a successful UFC career in which he became a two-division champion, Cejudo retired from MMA after a unanimous decision loss to Payton Talbott at UFC 323 in December. The American returned to the cage in 2023 after spending three years away from competition following his first retirement in 2020. Cejudo has also competed in wrestling for the RAF this year. Now, the Olympic gold medalist will try his hand at boxing.
Although the American has never competed in a professional boxing match, Cejudo spent three years competing in amateur boxing following his 2008 Olympic wrestling run. The former UFC champion also won the annual State of Arizona Copper Gloves tournament in Phoenix in 2010.
Deen the Great Returns to the Ring
An internet personality and content creator, Deen the Great has built his career in influencer boxing and has previously held the Misfits lightweight title. The American has competed several times under the Misfits banner and will now face by far the most accomplished combat sports athlete of his career.
Cejudo's transition to boxing will add another chapter to the career of a fighter who has already won Olympic and UFC gold. He will now look to add a boxing victory to his record when he faces Deen in September.
