UFC fighters did not hold back after Alex Apodaca shocked the world by beating Frank Mir's daughter, Bella Mir, in the latest DWCS episode.

Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) always delivers wild drama, but Week 3 of Season 10 featured one of the biggest jaw-droppers in combat sports history. Highly touted prospect Bella Mir, daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, entered the Meta APEX in Las Vegas as an astronomical -6000 betting favorite.

What seemed like a routine coronation turned into total shock when Alex Apodaca put on a masterclass in poise and stance-switching. Apodaca repeatedly stuffed Mir’s takedown attempts, controlled the rhythm of the bout, and earned a clean unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) to secure a coveted UFC contract. Naturally, the MMA community went wild online.

Pros Sound Off on the APEX Upset

The  reaction from UFC fighters and veterans swept across social media instantly, ranging from harsh reality checks to constructive encouragement.

Former UFC fighter Jeff Molina didn't hold back, leaning into the massive betting lines that had flooded sportsbooks prior to the cage doors closing. "Holy fraud check. Let’s see those Apodaca tickets," Molina posted, clearly taking aim at the heavy hype backing the young favorite.

UFC women's bantamweight veteran Yana Santos also expressed satisfaction over the result after dealing with days of relentless pre-fight talk. "Omg, for the last few days, my entire timeline has been filled with people saying Bella Mir was going to dominate our bantamweight division," Santos wrote.

Sharing a similar sentiment regarding the judging, former UFC competitor Diana Belbiță felt relieved the scorecards reflected the action accurately. "I'm happy the judges got it right. I was a little nervous they might be blinded by the name and the odds," Belbiță shared.

Not everyone joined in on the collective bashing, though. Strikeforce icon and veteran analyst Josh Thomson offered a far more measured perspective, recognizing the grit Apodaca brought to the table while reminding fans that early losses build championship character. "Great fight by Apodaca and way to stay tough out there Bella Mir," Thomson wrote. "We learn the most from our losses."

Former UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson spoke for virtually every bettor watching the broadcast unfold, keeping his reaction simple and stunned. "Ain’t no way -6000 Bella Mir just lost. My my my!" Brunson tweeted.

For Apodaca, the victory marks the signature triumph of her career, elevating her record and earning her a spot on the UFC roster. For Mir, it serves as a sudden bump in the road, and a valuable lesson in just how unforgiving this sport can be.
