The new episode of Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo’s "Pound 4 Pound" podcast took a hilarious turn.
Kamaru Usman Insists on Keeping Nurmagomedov out of Discussions
On the latest episode of their podcast, the two former UFC champions discussed the upcoming prospects of the UFC lightweight division. This is a crucial argument given Arman Tsarukyan’s Title shot request after his spectacular win. But both Dana White and Justin Gaethje have previously announced the reigning lightweight champion’s hiatus for the year due to injuries.
Triple C then took his turn to speak about who deserves the title shot the most among all the promising lightweights. He proposed putting Ilia Topuria against Paddy Pimblett and Arman Tsarukyan against Usman Nurmagomedov.
He went further to point out that Dana White has still not confirmed the title shot. Cejudo vocalised his suspicion about Dana White having something up his sleeve regarding Nurmagomedov.
"There's a lot of better match-ups you can do with the real 55-ers".Speaking of the next possible title contender, he again mentioned the Nurmagomedov possibility.
This idea wasn’t reciprocated by The Nigerian Nightmare. He said,
“Why do we keep bringing up Usman? This is not a done deal that Usman is going to be here” “He shouldn’t be in the conversation.”
It's true that despite Nurmagomedov being a lightweight monster in the cage, he hasn’t been signed with the UFC yet.
This is when Cejudo poked fun at him by saying, “I’m gonna tell Khabib what you just said.”
However, Usman didn’t seem to budge; “Tell him,” he was confident “, Khabib will 100, % agree with me”.

However, Islam Makhachev’s previous comments about Usman Nurmagomedov had already created the same suspicion among fans as Cejudo’s.
Usman Nurmagomedov’s Possible UFC Journey is Still Under Speculation
Usman Nurmagomedov has very recently completed his contract with PFL and is operating as a free agent. His future endeavours remain a heavily discussed topic, given that he had previously discussed turning down a $2 million-per-fight deal from the PFL.
To add fuel to the fire, Makhachev has hinted that there is a strong chance that Nurmagomedov will now join the UFC.
“It’s the perfect move for him. He needs to prove he’s the best in the world. He could face a Top 10 rival and soon earn a title shot,” Makhachev told Russian outlet Match TV.
“He grew up alongside Khabib and me, has trained with the best from the start of his career and has extensive experience working with champions; now is the best time for him to join the UFC.”
Although there seems to be a real discussion about the reigning PFL lightweight champion joining the UFC, Nothing has been confirmed yet.
