The Polish contender returns to the spotlight as he takes on one of the division's fastest rising prospects.

Just a few months after his last appearance, Mateusz Gamrot already has his next challenge. The UFC has announced that the Polish fighter will step back into the Octagon to face Quillan Salkilld in the main event of UFC Vegas 120, scheduled for Aug. 8 in Enterprise, NV. Last April, "Gamer" faced Esteban Ribovics at UFC 327 and submitted the Argentine in the second round.

Mateusz Gamrot Returns to Main Event

The bout marks Gamrot's return to the main-event spotlight. The last time the Polish fighter headlined a UFC event was against Charles Oliveira in October 2025, when the Brazilian defeated him via second-round submission. Currently ranked No. 6 in the lightweight division, Gamrot has experienced mixed results since defeating Rafael dos Anjos in March 2024, compiling a 3-2 record during that stretch.

Now, the Polish fighter will be tested against one of the division's biggest prospects.

Quillan Salkilld Gets Biggest Opportunity of Career at UFC Vegas 120

While Gamrot returns to the main event, Salkilld will headline his first UFC card in the biggest opportunity of his career. Considered one of the division's brightest prospects, the Australian has won all five of his UFC appearances, including four first-round finishes, earning four Performance of the Night bonuses. In his most recent outing, Salkilld knocked out veteran Beneil Dariush, further establishing himself as one of the lightweight division's rising contenders.

What's at Stake for Gamrot and Sallkild at UFC Vegas 120 Next Month

With the lightweight division moving quickly under champion Justin Gaethje, a victory could move either man another step closer to title contention. For Gamrot, it's a chance to defend his place among the division's elite. For Salkilld, it represents the biggest test of his UFC career.
