UFC interviewer and host Megan Olivi has shed light on the worrisome injury Conor McGregor sustained against Max Holloway at UFC 329.

Conor McGregor suffered a mid-fight injury in his rematch against Max Holloway, which served as the headlining fight of the UFC 329 event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas a few hours ago.

UFC on-screen personality Megan Olivi subsequently put forth an update on the nature of the injury that McGregor was afflicted by. The longtime MMA interviewer suggested that, per the UFC's medical team, McGregor sustained an internal knee injury to his right leg.

Conor McGregor suffered a brutal shin break, a gruesome injury to his left leg, in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier, a lightweight matchup that headlined UFC 264 back in July of 2021. The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion was stretchered out of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which hosted the fight that night.

Fast-forward to the present day, and McGregor happens to have experienced a seemingly similar unfortunate situation.

The Irishman's comeback fight after the leg break in July 2021 saw him take on Max Holloway in a welterweight showdown. It served as the main event of UFC 329 at the T-Mobile Arena on July 11, 2026; at the very same place he fought last time around.

McGregor, who'd previously defeated the Hawaiian via unanimous decision in a featherweight fight in August of 2013, vowed to dominate Holloway again at UFC 329.

However, the MMA legend's very first strike, an apparent switch kick thrown in a jumping/flying motion, saw him end it with a rather awkward landing on his right leg.

"The Notorious" seemed to be struggling to move, something which his opponent Max Holloway and Referee Mike Beltran soon noticed. And the fight was waved off at the first round's 1:09-minute mark. Holloway emerged the winner via TKO, and both fighters later embraced and expressed their mutual respect.

Moreover, during his post-fight octagon interview with Joe Rogan, Holloway jested about having McGregor "weak" in the knees. He, however, praised the Dubliner, noting that the latter kept trying to fight despite being clearly injured.

Holloway also called for a trilogy matchup against McGregor, who has one more fight left on his current UFC deal.

Megan Olivi sheds light on the injury that affected Conor McGregor in his comeback fight at UFC 329

A large number of fight fans and experts soon chimed in and highlighted that Conor McGregor likely injured his right leg, his right knee, to be specific, by landing awkwardly after his very first strike at UFC 329.

The combat sports megastar, for his part, seemed dejected after the unfortunate and anticlimactic ending to his long-awaited comeback fight at UFC 329.

Well, UFC interviewer Megan Olivi later weighed in on the situation, revealing that the UFC's medical team had told her that McGregor hurt his right knee. Olivi stated:

"As Conor McGregor left the building about three minutes ago, he was kind of hopping on one leg. I know that our UFC medical team did offer him crutches. He was not utilizing them. He still had his fight kit on; no shirt or anything. He was hopping out."

She added, "And from what I am told, he has a right internal knee injury. That's the only detail I have from our UFC medical team."

Furthermore, Olivi indicated that they'd attempted to secure an interview with McGregor, even trying to get one with him off-camera if he didn't want to give one on-camera. Nevertheless, the interview didn't come to fruition, as McGregor wanted to leave after the injury-marred defeat he suffered in his comeback match.

Olivi said, "We did ask for an interview, either on or off camera. He did deny that request. He wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. Right now, that is all the information that I have that I can officially share. But he did leave the building just a couple of minutes ago, guys."
