Referee Forced to Intervene in Andrew Strode vs Gee Perez Fight after Brutal Facial Injury

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has done it again—a brutal doctor's stoppage that stopped the entire combat world in its tracks. This time, the violence unfolded at BKFC 93 Hollywood, where American sensation Andrew Strode and Cuban boxer Gee Perez settled their "unfinished business" from 2025.

Not only did the results remain the same, but the injury this time is also arguably worse.

Gee Perez Suffers a Horrific Hematoma Injury

During the third round of the bout, Andrew Strode inflicted severe facial damage on the 'Cutman' before securing the TKO at the 1:59 mark. This win seems to have cemented Strode's victory in stone after a controversial doctor's stoppage in 2025 led to a rematch. 

The night's highlight, however, remains the gruesome sight of the hematoma that the BKFC veteran developed. It usually develops due to a localized pool of clotted blood because of a damaged artery or vein. Although bruises are common in fighting, Perez's injury was inches away from making it impossible for him to safely continue.

Uncrowned on Instagram, alongside Ariel Helwani, posted the brutal TKO win, describing the hematomas as "one of the wildest" in combat sports.

BKFC 78 Doctor's Stoppage Fate Repeats for Perez

The Cuban boxer had to leave the ring early after a punch split his left earlobe. Although the interim flyweight bout was initially ruled a no-contest, the Florida Athletic Commission reversed the controversial decision, awarding Strode the belt. 

Coming into the latest fight, Perez was surely desperate to take the win home. The Cuban told the BKFC pre-fight press that his game plan was to "not play with this guy, just go in and take him up." Clearly, Perez was aware of the consequences from last time. Unfortunately, knowledge couldn't make up for the gaps in his execution.

However, Strode seems to have succeeded in his attempt to make it 2-0 with Perez, joking previously in the pre-fight presser that he was aiming for the other ear. 

With this victory, Andrew Strode is now at the top of BKFC's bantamweight rankings, per Middle Easy. The brutal bout also opened the main card, dotted with lethal action. Esteban Rodriguez secured a first-round win against Steve Townsel. Leonardo Perdomo knocked out Bear Hill in the first round for the night's main event.
