Ryan Garcia’s Future Takes Unexpected Turn After BKB Meeting

Ryan Garcia meets with BKB leadership to discuss boxing and his future, sparking speculation about a possible bare-knuckle move.
Ryan Garcia's future in boxing has veered off in a surprising direction after meeting with the leadership of BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing. The promotion recently released a photo with Garcia as well as members of its leadership, saying that the two sides discussed boxing, the fight game, and what may come next.
The meeting immediately drew speculation that Garcia may be making the move to bare-knuckle boxing, although no deal has been signed yet, and neither has a fight or agreement been announced.
Ryan Garcia Meets With BKB Leadership
BKB revealed the meeting through Instagram, captioning the post, "Ryan Garcia 🤝 BKB” alongside a photo of Garcia with the promotion's leadership.
“BKB leadership linked up with @kingryan for a conversation about boxing, the fight game, and what the future could hold,” the promotion added. “Plenty to talk about. 👀”
The interesting wording allows for a number of intriguing interpretations. Perhaps Garcia was simply looking to expand his repertoire outside traditional boxing, and perhaps he will make a special appearance later on in the BKB either in a non-fighting capacity or in an exhibition bout.
For now, however, there is no indication of Garcia having signed with BKB or making any sort of deal regarding a bare-knuckle fight. That said, the promotion has been aggressive in its pursuit of fighters off late, and the names it has been able to acquire are certainly impressive.
Could Garcia Make the Bare-Knuckle Move?
Of late, BKB has been steadily pursuing recognizable boxing talent for its bare-knuckle competitions. The promotion has an array of former world champions and well-known boxing personalities on its roster, including Lee Selby and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
However, Garcia would be a tremendous drawing card if he were to eventually step into the Trigon. He is one of the sport's brightest young stars, and a switch to bare-knuckle boxing would be a major draw. Neither Garcia nor BKB has confirmed that negotiations for a bare-knuckle bout are underway.
The meeting merely serves as a reminder that BKB is one of the possibilities surrounding Garcia's future. With the promotion saying there was "plenty to talk about," fans will have to wait for the next big development.
