Ryan Garcia Hasn't Given Up on Wanting to Fight Terence Crawford

Ryan Garcia hasn’t missed an opportunity in the last few weeks to challenge Terence Crawford to the ring against him.

A new update in the back-and-forth between Ryan Garcia and Terence Crawford just dropped. The WBC Welterweight Champion took to X to reply to a clip of Crawford. 

In the clip posted by Boxing Massacre, Bud mocked Garcia about wanting to fight “three people that’s retired”. The former five-division world champion, when asked about his take on the Garcia situation, said, “Ryan just hating on greatness”.

KingRy soon replied to that post.

However, this recent feud has been going on since Crawford had publicly picked Benn to win against Garcia during Garcia’s title defence fight.

Garcia then expressed his dismay at Crawford on "The Ariel Helwani Show". He said, "He picked Conor Benn to beat you. He don't like me.” He further insisted, “Will come out of retirement? I don’t know but he knows he has to.”

However, Bud seems to have no intention of facing the 28-year-old any time soon despite continuous provocations.

Terence Crawford Dodging Constant Lures of Going Back to Ring

It has not even been a year since the retirement announcement of Terence Crawford reached the public. Ever since then, he has been dodging the demands of stepping back in the ring.

"Bud" retired as the undisputed super-middleweight after beating Canelo Álvarez to become undisputed super-middleweight champion in September 2025. Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has expressed his desire to lure Crawford out of retirement. His seven-fight wish list includes a bout with Garcia and a rematch with Álvarez.

Zuffa Boxing promoter Dana White too has similar plans. He has recently claimed to be working on a perfect fight for Crawford.

Bud responded to this claim via an interview with Seconds Out. 

"I heard White say that, and I still don’t know what fight he is talking about," he said

"So, I’m like ‘OK?’.”

Crawford had caused some commotion among fans by teasing about a possible bout between him and Ennis. Although he later withdrew it, it is evidently clear that the expectations around his comeback are rising.

Realistically, however, the only fight that makes sense in this scenario is the rematch with Canelo Álvarez. Jaron Ennis is undoubtedly good, but certainly doesn’t have the star power to generate the kind of payday that would convince Crawford to fight again.

This is also true for Garcia, although the payday against him would be considerably higher.
