"Unified Time": Ryan Garcia's Teofimo Lopez Callout Gets Heated

Ryan Garcia's hunger is insatiable. The Mexican boxer delivered one of the most brutal knockouts of the night on Saturday to defend his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn. Now, he's already vying for unified status. That callout, however, was only inches away from getting physical.

The welterweight title fight, co-promoted by UFC boss Dana White's Zuffa Boxing, set the crowd alight with a quick 85-second knockout in the second round. However, 'KingRy' was not done with his antics, with an incendiary callout threatening to spill over in the same ring. 

“Teofimo, get that a— up here! Where you at? Unified time, where you at? Where you at, Teofimo?” Garcia shouted from the ring after spotting Lopez at ringside. 

Lopez was in no mood to let that slide. The WBA welterweight champion attempted to barge into the ring, although the security held him back. Surprisingly, 'KingRy' was ready to escalate matters, nearly going after Lopez. 

“You wanna get crazy, we can get crazy. I’ll beat your ass right now!” Garcia hollered into the crowd. Lopez, however, is not Garcia's only target. The Mexican intends to sweep the entire 147-lb division.

Ryan Garcia Wants to Settle Unfinished Business with David Haney

"We gotta clear this s— out. Hopefully we get to beat Devin Haney’s a— again for undisputed. F— the Haneys!” Garcia confirmed in the post-fight ring interview. The two already have history, having faced off each other in a 2024 showdown. 

The WBC champion's decision victory was overturned to a no-contest after a drug-test fiasco. Garcia definitely wants another go at settling that score. Given that Haney is also the WBO welterweight champion, the bout will prove to be an important step in the former's unification goal.

Furthermore, four-division world champion Shakur Stevenson also expressed his interest in a fight with the Mexican sensation. Clearly, Garcia has many options to choose from. But 'KingRy' seems to have already made up his mind.

“I want to unify against Teófimo. I think that’s the move. It’s a huge fight and Teó’s an entertaining dude and it’s going to be a hell of a buildup and he’s a good fighter too, so let’s run it," Garcia clarified in the post-fight press conference.

With Teofimo Lopez riding off major momentum after winning the WBA welterweight belt less than a month ago against Rolando 'Rolly' Romero, both fighters are coming in hot and vicious. The real question is who will go the distance despite the soaring expectations and who will fold under pressure.
