Let’s be honest: Every now and then it’s fun to get down into the nitty-gritty statistics and see if we can’t perform some MMAth. It helps us analyze future fights and make predictions based on previous history. Fans of all sports do it, so why can’t we? It can help us look for potential trends in a fighter as well. So, with thanks to Sherdog and FightMetric.com for the raw data, let’s examine the main event of the upcoming UFC Fight Night 27: Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampman.
The last time these two fought, Kampman was able to eke out a split decision victory. However, I don’t see that happening this time. While the statistics show the Dane to actually be an even more aggressive fighter than his New Mexico-based counterpart, I don’t foresee him being able to hold the pace he would need to beat Condit over 5 rounds. This fight still goes to a decision, but I predict “The Natural Born Killer” takes the W home with him this time.
