Ty Miller names Carlos Prates as his dream fight after scary TKO win at UFC Vegas 120

Ty Miller has named fearsome UFC welterweight elite Carlos Prates as his dream opponent. 

"Thriller's" remarks regarding a potential showdown between himself and Prates come in the aftermath of his spectacular victory at UFC Vegas 120. 

Ty Miller talks comparisons to Carlos Condit, Tim Means, and Carlos Prates; keen on fighting Prates

Ty Miller, an alum of the UFC's DWCS (Dana White's Contender Series), made his UFC main roster debut earlier this year. The rising star stopped Adam Fugitt via first-round TKO.

His next, and most recent, fight witnessed him beat Billy Ray Goff via third-round TKO at UFC Vegas 120, which transpired at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas on August 8. Incidentally, Carlos Prates, who's the No. 1-ranked contender in the UFC welterweight division on the official Meta UFC rankings, was in attendance for the event. 

During the UFC Vegas 120 post-fight press conference, Ty Miller was asked about which fighters, from the past or present, he sees himself in. The striking savant responded by naming the great Carlos Condit and fellow welterweight Tim Means, both of whom he previously indicated happened to have trained under the tutelage of his coaches. 

The Fit NHB gym pupil also signaled that some have drawn comparisons between him and Carlos Prates. He stated: 

"Yeah. I mean, I've been compared to Carlos Condit, and Tim Means, and even Carlos Prates, which I don't really see, but I've been compared. Yeah. I mean, I've been compared to those guys, which is cool, but I have my own style. So, yeah, I'm looking to be a fan-favorite." 

Upon being told that Prates was in the audience for UFC Vegas 120, he spoke about his desire to fight the Brazilian striker: 

"Prates? Oh, that's cool, man. You know what? A lot of people ask me what my dream fight would be, and it would be against him, respectfully. He's a bada**, dude, man." 

The 26-year-old asserted that, as a fan, he truly loves watching Prates, who he suggested does many things well in his fights. Miller added, "And I would love to fight him someday." 

The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based fighter implied that the differential in their rankings and accomplishments at this point in time means that he's probably far away from a matchup against Prates. Alternatively, he hinted that it could change soon, and the dream fight might be closer than it seems.

A look at the trio of UFC fighters named by Ty Miller

Former interim UFC welterweight champion and the final WEC welterweight titlist Carlos Condit is beheld as one of the most exciting fighters to have ever competed in the sport of MMA. "The Natural Born Killer" -- who boasts victories over the likes of Rory MacDonald, Dan Hardy, Nick Diaz, Matt Brown, and many other notable fighters -- retired in 2021. 

On the other hand, welterweight star Tim Means hasn't competed in a professional MMA fight since his submission defeat against Court McGee back in 2024. Nevertheless, "The Dirty Bird" is still listed as an active fighter on the official UFC website. 

As for Carlos Prates, he's coming off a TKO win over former welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena in May. UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev does battle with Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 on August 15, and Prates is expected to face the winner for the title. 

Furthermore, Ty Miller is himself considered to be a talented striker and well-rounded fighter in his own right, albeit he's yet to acquire the level of experience the aforementioned trio has. The 6'2" Miller is 8-0 in the UFC and has been likened by many to the tall, lanky striker prototype like Condit, Means, and Prates.
