Conor McGregor reaffirms belief in martial arts mastery despite time away from the sport
The 37-year-old underscored that he's prepared to showcase his martial arts mastery to the world; his lengthy break from MMA notwithstanding.
Furthermore, he appeared to pray for his successful return, in addition to implying that he'd like his comeback to inspire future generations.
McGregor's most recent professional combat sports contest was a lightweight MMA bout. He suffered a first-round TKO defeat in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. The Dublin native sustained a gruesome mid-fight leg injury in that matchup.
He was since linked to various potential fights in MMA and boxing, but none materialized. That said, the UFC recently confirmed that McGregor will make his long-awaited comeback against ex-UFC featherweight champion and ex-BMF champion Max Holloway.
He bested Holloway via unanimous decision in a featherweight bout inside the octagon back in 2013. Their rematch will transpire at welterweight. It'll headline UFC 329 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on July 11, 2026.
