Glover Teixeira accepts Mauricio "Shogun" Rua's call for a rematch: "Let's do it again"
The former UFC champion believes Shogun deserves another chance after their highly praised boxing match at Spaten Fight Night 3.
Glover Teixeira is on board with a rematch against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion said he would gladly share the ring with Shogun again after the two veterans delivered an entertaining fight at Spaten Fight Night 3.

Shogun initially appeared ready to retire after the bout, saying in an interview that he did not expect to compete again after facing Teixeira. However, even though he suffered a unanimous decision loss on Saturday, the former UFC and PRIDE champion changed his stance. A few days after the matchup, Shogun publicly challenged Teixeira to a rematch at the next Spaten Fight Night, and the Brazilian veteran was quick to accept the challenge.
"Shogun more than deserves the rematch," Teixeira told Combate. "If he wants it, absolutely! The guy deserves it. He said it would be his last one, but now he realized that maybe there are some things he could improve on. If he wants the chance at a rematch, let's do it again, Shogun!"
Glover Teixeira Praises Mauricio Shogun After First Fight
Teixeira and Shogun delivered an exciting fight in their boxing debut. Teixeira took the initiative from the opening seconds, pushing a fast pace and landing heavy strikes. In the second round, the Brazilian landed a powerful right hand that knocked Shogun to the canvas. The former champion showed tremendous heart and toughness to beat the count and survive the heavy pressure, and was even able to rock his opponent in the fifth round.
Following the bout, Teixeira praised his opponent's toughness and said he believes Shogun has earned the right to a second fight. Teixeira also made it clear that he remains open to other boxing opportunities.
"I'll fight anyone, but Shogun definitely deserves a rematch because he brought so much to the fight," Teixeira said. "And we put on, as people have been saying, one of the best fights of the year. That's pretty damn cool!"
With both former UFC champions now expressing interest in running it back, a rematch could become an option for the next Spaten Fight Night. However, no date or event has been officially announced yet.
