UFC Shanghai Weigh-In Results: Three Fighters Miss Target Friday

UFC Shanghai's official weigh-in window took place Friday morning (China time.) We bring you up to speed on what happened on the scales today.
UFC Shanghai is almost here. Saturday night (China time,) the last event on the UFC's August slate takes place from Shanghai's Oriental Sports Center. Live coverage of UFC Shanghai begins Saturday at 3 am ET/ 12 midnight PT on Paramount Plus with the prelims.
Main card action immediately follows at 6 am ET/ 3 am PT on the streaming service. Although the 13-fight card is intact after the Friday morning weigh-ins, not everyone who tipped the scales today had an easy time.
All told, three of the 26 fighters booked to appear during Saturday's show failed to hit their prescribed targets on the scale. All three of the weight misses came from fighters competing on this weekend's undercard in the Pudong district.
Andre Lima Exceeds Weight at UFC Shanghai Weigh-Ins
Andre Lima (127 lbs) will attempt to rebound from his first professional defeat in Saturday's prelims against Namsrai Batbayar (126 lbs) but he came in heavy at the scales on Friday. Lima, who made headlines in early 2024 after winning a fight against Igor Severino by disqualification due to biting, exceeded the flyweight nontitle maximum by a single pound.
Due to Lima's weight miss, he now cedes 20 percent of his wages to his adversary. Batbayar, who will be making his UFC promotional debut on Saturday in UFC Shanghai, successfully hit the 126-lb target without issue. Lima has company in the clubhouse when it comes to fighters who missed weight today.
Strawweights Jing Nan, Polastri Miss Weight Ahead of UFC Shanghai
In the strawweight division, Xiong Jing Nan (117 lbs) and Julia Polastri (118 1/2 lbs) face off in the second prelim on Saturday night. Xiong missed the 116-lb strawweight target for nontitle affairs by a pound, with Polastri clocking in 2 1/2 lbs over.
Luckily, these were the only weight misses reported in Shanghai earlier today. All other fighters came in on or below the contracted weight for their respective contests.
UFC Shanghai Main Event a Firm Go After Weigh-Ins
Saturday night's main event is a crucial bout in the bantamweight ranks. No. 3 contender Umar Nurmagomedov (135 1/2 lbs) faces off against No. 6 contender Song Yadong (136 lbs.) This main event is an advertised maximum of five rounds at five minutes per round to close out the night's activities.
