With the announcement of Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway 2, we take a look at some early predictions.

Dana White announced the return of the Mac, Conor McGregor for International Fight Week on July 11th. He will feature in a rematch 13 years in the making against former featherweight and BMF champion, Max Holloway. The two men first fought in 2013 with McGregor coming away with a unanimous decision victory and since then, both men have become household names and hall of famers.

We take a look at early predictions ahead of McGregor vs Holloway at UFC 329.

Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway 2 Predictions

Max Holloway outworks Conor McGregor for 25 minutes

Max Holloway’s cardio is the stuff of legend. Not only does he hold the record for the most number of significant strikes landed in UFC history (3681), he also holds the record for most significant strikes landed in a single fight. Headlining a Fight Night card against Calvin Kattar on fight island, Holloway landed an astonishing 445 significant strikes on his way to victory.

Conor McGregor’s cardio is not stuff of legend. In fact, he’s only gone the five round distance on a single occasion, against Nate Diaz some 10 years ago. On that famous night, he struggled with his cardio and 10 years on after inactivity and outside of the octagon jaunts, it’s questionable whether his cardio will hold up against Holloway.

There’s a very real chance that Holloway could outwork McGregor for the full 25 minutes of the fight, putting a pace on the Irishman that, after a five year hiatus, he can’t keep up with.

There is the interesting factor of Max Holloway competing at welterweight for the first time in his career, 15lbs heavier than his last fight and 25lbs heavier than where he did his best work at featherweight.

Conor McGregor Lands ‘That’ Left Hand and Puts Holloway to Sleep

Conor McGregor’s cardio may not be the stuff of legend, but his left hand certainly is. At 145lbs only one man survived his attacks in the UFC, ironically, it will be the man who is stood across from him at UFC 329, Max Holloway.

With that being said, he’s notched an impressive 19 knockouts in his MMA career, finishing fights in three weight classes, at featherweight, lightweight and welterweight. The Notorious has a notoriously powerful backhand and his movement, more often than not, allows him to land that backhand on the chin of his opponents and put them away.

It’s safe to say that in his five year break from the sport, McGregor hasn’t been solidly training, however, we know that when he commits to something, he’s all in and puts on a show. If he’s committed to the Max Holloway fight at UFC 329 he could look sharp, slick and back to his best. Who is to say that if this is the case, he can’t land ‘that’ left hand and put Holloway to sleep?

Since they last fought, Holloway has taken a lot of damage, been pulled out of fights due to concussion like symptoms before making the walk, been knocked out and been in wars. Up at welterweight, there’s a chance that his career could finally catch up with him and he could end the night with the Irishman stood over him in victory.

Max Holloway offers Conor McGregor to Swing Away Leading to a Viral Moment

With plenty of memorable moments in his illustrious career, Max Holloway is best remembered for his jaw-dropping knockout over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. Despite cruising to victory on the scorecards, Blessed risked it all, pointed to the ground and called Gaethje on. What we got was one of the most viral moments in UFC history as Holloway knocked Gaethje out cold, cementing himself as the real BMF.

If Holloway offers McGregor the chance to throw down in the final moments of the fight, not only would it be legendary, but he yet again could go viral. McGregor isn’t one to back down from a scrap, we have seen him dog it out against Nate Diaz in their rematch, dig deep against Chad Mendes and adapt against Holloway in their first fight. If Holloway offers the UFCs biggest star the chance to make yet another ‘moment’, surly he couldn’t resist…
