EFC 139 Main Event: Godfrey Mkhwanazi vs. Veja Hinda
The main event of EFC 139 will see South Africa's Godfrey Mkhwanazi step in on short notice to face Namibia's undefeated Veja Hinda. The pair will meet in a 141-pound catchweight bout after Coenie Lamprecht was forced to withdraw due to a concussion sustained in his training camp.
Mkhwanazi enters this bout with a 6-5 professional record, and he is currently on a one-fight winning streak following his split decision victory over Clelio Diogo at EFC 138. The quick turnaround offers 'FeralSpunky' the opportunity to headline an EFC card for the first time, giving him an opportunity to make a major statement at the top of the card.
Hinda, meanwhile, enters this bout with an undefeated 2-0 professional record, and is one of the bantamweight division's most promising prospects. 'HindaBoy' had his last EFC outing at EFC 134 in June, and he managed to secure a first-round finish - a result he could be looking to duplicate at EFC 139.
EFC 139 Co-Main Event: Nasiphi Vellem vs. Grant Farrow
The co-main event features a lightweight match between two undefeated South African fighters. Nasiphi 'The Honey Badger' Vellem and Grant 'Friction' Farrow will both be looking to protect their perfect records whilst also pushing themselves into crucial title conversations at 155 pounds.
Vellem enters the contest with a 3-0-1 record, and recently went the distance with Lucky Magekha to claim a unanimous decision victory. Despite starting his professional career at Versus, Vellem has quickly established himself as a name to watch in the EFC's lightweight division.
Farrow has made an equally promising start to his professional career, and he will be entering the EFC Hex at EFC 139 with a 2-0 record. He has demonstrated both finishing ability and the capability to exert control over three rounds, and this bout gives him a chance to back up the confidence he often exudes on the mic.
EFC 139 takes place on Thursday live from the WSB EFC Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa.
