Kayla Harrison vs Amanda Nunes goes down at UFC 334, and we look at the implications of that fight.

The bantamweight queen Kayla Harrison is fully focused on the task at hand at UFC 334, but it hasn't come without its hiccups.

Originally scheduled to meet the GWOAT, Amanda Nunes at UFC 324, the Olympic gold medalist withdrew as a result of a potentially career-ending injury.

Ahead of her rescheduled UFC 334 bout with Nunes, Harrison went on the Deep Waters podcast to discuss the injury that kept her out of the original date:

"To be honest, it was rough at the beginning. I think more, obviously, physically but mentally. It was such a big surgery. I went 10 years without having a surgery. I had reconstructive knee surgery in between my two Olympics, and then I went 10 years with no surgery. But in the last four years, I've had four surgeries back-to-back-to-back. This one was the most serious. I was kind of just like, 'Am I ever going to be OK again?' It got to the point where I was questioning if I was ever going to feel like myself again. But I'm back. I'm back."

UFC 334 - Huge fight ahead

Harrison and Nunes will step into the octagon and go at it for the bantamweight title in what is the biggest fight in women's MMA history. Yes, Nunes vs Cyborg was huge, and Rousey vs Carano had the storyline, but this is two legitimate superstars putting it all on the line for legacy and gold.

If Nunes wins, it proves one thing - She is the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time - No questions. If Harrison wins, many will regard her as the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time.

With Harrison's injury and Nunes' retirement, who knows what both women will bring to the octagon, but one thing is for certain: they'll leave it all in there in the pursuit of elite greatness.

Could we see a double retirement at UFC 334 regardless of who wins? It's very likely...
