UFC Vegas 120 Delivers Thrilling Prelims Saturday!

UFC Vegas 120 fight week is here. After a long stretch away from the friendly confines of Meta Apex in Enterprise, NV, the No. 1 MMA promotion in the world is back at its homebase this second weekend of August. Live coverage of UFC Vegas 120 begins at 5 pm ET/ 2 pm PT on Saturday afternoon with the prelims.

Main card action follows at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT from Meta Apex. As always, this weekend's event from the UFC  can be seen gavel-to-gavel via Paramount Plus. 

If there are no adjustments needing to be made to the Saturday schedule, the final version of UFC Vegas 120 will feature a slate of 12 fights inside the fabled Octagon.

UFC Vegas 120 Featured Prelim: Steven Asplund vs. Guilherme Pat: DWCS Grad Seeks Return to Win Column

At the top of the bill for the undercard of UFC Vegas 120, the heavyweight division takes center stage when Steven Asplund (7-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC,) a 2025 alumnus of Dana White's Contender Series, battles Guilherme Pat (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC.) All fights mentioned herein are an advertised maximum of three rounds at five minutes per round.

Asplund comes into Saturday evening's UFC Vegas 120 featured prelim having gone 4-1 in his last five trips to the cage. Back on March 14, he was defeated by way of unanimous decision against Vitor Petrino (14-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) during UFC Vegas 114's co-featured prelim.

This was a short-notice bout in the wake of Petrino's original opponent, Kennedy Nzechukwu, withdrawing from the show. Asplund is a man who got to the UFC after winning three fights in a row from January to September of last year.  Will he get his hand raised in victory this weekend?

Guilherme Pat Also Looking for Return to Victory Lane in UFC Vegas 120

Across the way, Guilherme Pat has posted a 4-1 record of his own in his five most recent fights. On April 4, he made the walk at Meta Apex to fight Thomas Petersen (11-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC,) a contest he lost by way of majority decision after 15 minutes of action during the UFC Vegas 115 undercard.

The fight served as the first defeat for Pat in his professional career. While a fighter is dangerous when he's on a sustained winning streak, he can be just as brutal in his first fight after a loss.

UFC Vegas 120 Co-Featured Prelim: Diyar Nurgozhay vs. Bruno Lopes: Nurgozhay Looking for Second Win of '26

Immediately beforehand, the co-featured undercard bout happens at 205 lbs when Diyar Nurgozhay  (11-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) fights Bruno Lopes (14-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC.) Nurgozhay comes into UFC Vegas 120 with a 3-2 mark in his past five appearances dating back to the spring of 2024.

Upon securing his UFC deal by way of Contender Series October of that year, he dropped two bouts in succession before breaking into the win column in March during UFC 326. That evening, he bested Rafael Tobias (14-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in the latter's UFC promotional debut.

Nurgozhay had won 10 fights in succession before his UFC debut and finally got his first win under the UFC banner at the third time of asking five months ago. Does he get to .500 in the promotion? Only time will tell.

Bruno Lopes Eager to Snap Two-Fight Losing Streak at UFC Vegas 120

Meanwhile, Bruno Lopes has a 3-2 record in his last five bouts. He's dropped two contests in succession, however, ahead of UFC Vegas 120 this coming weekend.

On March 28, inside Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena, he was on the receiving end of a second-round knockout from Navajo Stirling (11-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC.) Lopes has been a streaky fighter of late, losing two bouts in a row after having emerged victorious from three successive fights.

Ahead of UFC Vegas 120, one question remains: Which version of Bruno Lopes is the version to show up on Saturday? If it's the Bruno Lopes who won three contests in succession, he'll be in good shape.

UFC Vegas 120: Louie Sutherland vs. Jose Montanha da Silva: Sutherland Aiming for Second Straight Win

Also on the UFC Vegas 120 undercard, more heavyweight action takes place when Louie Sutherland (11-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) battles Jose Montanha da Silva (6-1 MMA, UFC promotional debut.) Sutherland is making his third trip to the Octagon in 2026 in this fight, sporting a 3-2 record in his last five appearances. 

On May 2, he trekked to Perth to score a unanimous decision victory over Tai Tuivasa (14-10 MMA, 8-10 UFC.) This fight gave the latter his seventh consecutive loss, putting him one defeat away from tying the UFC promotional record for most losses in a row. 

While Sutherland received his first UFC win at the third time of asking three months ago, his opponent has had to wait a long time to even so much as fight in the Octagon.

Jose Montanha da Silva Finally Makes UFC Debut on Third Booking

In the other corner, Jose Montanha da Silva has gone 4-1 over the past five fights. Last summer, he submitted Bruno de Jesus (3-2 MMA) with a first-round submission by way of rear-naked choke.

From there, he was signed to the UFC and had been slated to make his UFC debut in November of last year before a fight versus Marek Bujlo before he withdrew from the bout. A contest against Jhonata Diniz set for June 20 was also scrubbed amid the latter fighter withdrawing.

As the saying goes, "The third time is the charm," and while his third booking will result in a debut, will Montanha walk out of the Apex with a win? By late Saturday afternoon, the question will be answered.

• a women's flyweight attraction matching Juliana Miller (4-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) with Ravena Oliveira (7-4-1 MMA, 0-3 UFC,)
• and a strawweight fight versing Gigi Canuto (7-1 MMA, UFC promotional debut) and Carol Foro (9-1 MMA, UFC promotional debut.)
