Saturday’s main event features a top three match up in the featherweight division as Yair Rodriguez returns from a two year layoff while MMASucka provides UFC Vegas 42 Results. Rodriguez will make his return to the cage against featherweight’s number one contender and former champion, Max Holloway.

UFC Vegas 42 Results – Main Event

In Rodriguez’s last three fights, he has gone 2-0 with one no contest. The no contest occurred in his first fight with Jeremy Stephens after an accidental eye poke forced Stephens to be unable to continue. Prior to that fight, Rodriguez picked up a huge win in 2018 over Chan Sung Jung. It was a back and forth fight that would eventually see Rodriguez land a very impressive elbow with seconds left to finish the fight. After his no contest against Stephens in his next fight, Rodriguez and Stephens would get a rematch booked one month later. They fought the whole three rounds that time and when it was over, Rodriguez was awarded with the unanimous decision win. Stepping in against Holloway, Rodriguez looks to pick up the biggest win of his career to earn himself a title shot.

Holloway has fought three times since Rodriguez made his last appearance. After defending his featherweight title for the third time against Frankie Edgar, Holloway would go on to lose it to Alexander Volkanovski in his next outing. Holloway fought Volkanovski again in his next fight, attempting to recapture the title, but came up short once again, losing by split decision. Holloway’s most recent fight took place earlier this year when he faced off against Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC on ABC 1. Holloway put on a very impressive performance as he outclassed Kattar for the entire fight en route to a unanimous decision win. Holloway looks to spoil Rodriguez’s title hopes as they face off in Saturday’s main event.

UFC Vegas 42 Results – Co-Main Event

Saturday night’s co-main event will feature a matchup in the heavyweight division as Ben Rothwell faces off against Marcos Rogerio de Lima. In his last three fights, Rothwell has put together a record of 2-1. First, he would welcome Ovince Saint Preux to the heavyweight division by defeating him by split decision. In his next outing, Rothwell came up short against Marcin Tybura as he lost by unanimous decision. In Rothwell’s most recent outing, in May 2021, he picked up a submission win in the second round against Chris Barnett.

Marcos Rogerio de Lima enters the fight with an identical 2-1 record in his last three appearances. The first of those wins was in a matchup with Ben Sosoli as de Lima finished him in the first round by TKO. De Lima would then lose in his next fight as he was submitted by Alexander Romanov at UFC Vegas 13. Finally, in de Lima’s most recent fight, he defeated TUF alum Maurice Greene by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 26.

UFC Vegas 42 Results – Main Card

Kicking off the main card on Saturday will be a matchup in the featherweight division as fifteenth ranked Song Yadong takes on Julio Arce. In his last two fights, Yadong has gone 1-1. Earlier this year, he suffered his first loss in almost five years when he lost by unanimous decision to Kyler Phillips. In his last fight, he bounced back with a split decision win over Casey Kenney at UFC 265. As for Arce, he has also gone 1-1 in his last two fights. The first of those occurred nearly two years ago as he lost a split decision to Hakeem Dawodu. He returned earlier this year with a TKO win over Andre Ewell in the second round of their UFC Vegas 32 matchup.

Following that fight will be a welterweight fight between Miguel Baeza and Khaos Williams. Baeza started his career of 10-0 as he had won three straight UFC bouts since making his debut 2019. Since his debut, he has picked up wins over Hector AldanaMatt Brown, and Takashi Sato. Baeze suffered his first loss in his last, losing to Santiago Ponzinibbio. Williams will be entering the fight with a 1-1 record in his last two fights. After losing by unanimous decision to Michel Pereira in December, Williams went on to defeat Matthew Semelsberger by unanimous decision earlier this year.

Finally, before the heavyweight co-main event, Felicia Spencer and Leah Letson face off in a women’s featherweight bout. Spencer has had five fights since she made her UFC debut in 2019, compiling a record of 2-3 over that time. The former Invicta FC champion picked up wins in the UFC over Megan Anderson and Zarah Fairn dos Santos. Her win against dos Santos earned her a title shot against Amanda Nunes, only to come up short, losing to Nunes by unanimous decision. In her last fight, Spencer suffered another loss as Norma Durmont defeated her by split decision in their UFC Vegas 27 meeting. As for Letson, she is making her second UFC appearance since her time on season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter. In her debut, Letson defeated Julija Stoliarenko by split decision at the TUF 28 Finale.
