Adele Fornarino Set to Fight for Flyweight Title at UFC BJJ 12

Adele Fornarino is set to make history again, with UFC BJJ's flyweight title on the line this time.
One of the most touted female grapplers in the world, Aussie fighter Adele Fornario is all set to become the first woman to headline a UFC BJJ event. Challenging reigning bantamweight champion Cassia Moura only amplifies the tension.
Adele Fornarino Eager to Add Another Title to Her Decorated Resume
Adele Fornarino will go toe-to-toe against Brazilian champion Cassia Moura as the main event for UFC BJJ 12 on Oct. 8 (Thursday). The bout will crown the inaugural flyweight title. And both ladies have done enough to present their own unique threats coming into the grappling match.
'Daddy' Fornarino is hailed for her lethal submission-hunting style and ability to keep her opponents in hot water. Holding the joint record in WNO, alongside Nicky Ryan, for the fastest submission at just 23 seconds, Fornarino defeated Amanda Alequin with an Aoki lock.
More recently, she tapped Ana Mayordomo with a straight-ankle lock in 16 seconds for the 2025 IBJJF Black Belt Featherweight final. The ADCC Double Gold champion has also strung together incredible finishes in UFC BJJ, notably against Alexandria Enriquez and Carol Brunacio.
However, as illustrious as 'Daddy' is, Cassia Moura is anything but a dark horse. The 20-year-old remains unbeaten inside the promotion in 5 fights. After her most high-profile victory over Ffion Davies, which earned her the bantamweight title, the rising prodigy is well on her way to double-champion glory.
Adele Fornarino Promises An "Epic" Showdown
Adele Fornarino couldn't have asked for a better camp ahead of her flyweight clash. In an Instagram reel posted by UFC BJJ, with the match inching closer, 'Daddy' has provided an exclusive insight into her preparation for the showdown.
As the Aussie explained, the fight camp for Oct. 8 is among the best she's ever had, with training partners and mentors from across America helping her polish her skills.
"I'm feeling great. Honestly, this camp has been a step up from every other camp that I've had previously. I've had some incredible bodies on the mat. I've had some incredible mentors that are coming in to help me out. There are people from all across America to be on the mats for getting me ready for this camp," Fornarino explained.
Speaking on her preparation and what fans can expect on Thursday, Fornarino replied with conviction:
"I'm as prepared as I could ever be. You're going to see a different version of me, and I can't wait to showcase that.
"It's going to be an epic one."
If someone can put on a show, it's Adele Fornarino. Hunting a submission from the starting second of the fight, the 27-year-old is known for finishing fights quickly. However, if Cassia Moura can frustrate Fornarino to go the distance, she has an equal opportunity to swing the fight in her direction.
