Alexander Volkanovski has revealed plans for a hunting trip with Islam Makhachev in Dagestan, hinting at an unexpected adventure that could bring the UFC rivals together outside the Octagon.

Dagestan has a special connection with Alexander Volkanovski. He has faced Islam Makhachev twice for the lightweight title and is now preparing to face another Dagestani in Movsar Evloev for his upcoming featherweight title defense.

The featherweight champion has always shown respect to his opponents and was one of the biggest voices pushing for Evloev to get his title shot. Now, the Australian fighter has revealed that despite their rivalry inside the Octagon, he has a wild adventure planned with Makhachev.

Alexander Volkanovski Plans Dagestan Adventure With Former Rival Islam Makhachev

Volkanovski revealed that he and Makhachev have already discussed a trip to Dagestan. The former rivals plan to go hunting on horseback in the mountains, camp outdoors, and cook whatever they catch over a wood fire. In a recent interview with TMZ, ā€˜The Great’ said, ā€œI love the idea of Islam Makhachev, doing it with him. We've already even chatted about it. So I'm going to go to Dagestan, in the mountains, horseback hunting, hunting on horseback, catching whatever we catch and then cooking it, literally over a wood fire, camping out.ā€

Volkanovski said they've already talked about the trip and is confident it will happen. Despite facing each other twice inside the Octagon, the two appear to share a genuinely good relationship outside of it. However, the upcoming title fight with Movsar Evloev is the priority right now.

Movsar Evloev Wants To Beat Alexander Volkanovski Over Five Rounds To Prove He's 'Not Special'

Movsar Evloev says he no longer wants to finish Alexander Volkanovski. Instead, he wants to beat the UFC featherweight champion over five rounds to prove he isn't as special as people think. During a recent talk with MMA Junkie, he said:

ā€œI was looking for a finish, but when I hear that kind of stuff, I don’t want a finish. I want to prove that he’s not special. I can beat him over five rounds. He’s confident. I like that confidence, but me too.ā€

Evloev respects Volkanovski's confidence but believes in himself just as much, saying only their fight will settle who is better. This fight is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling featherweight bouts in recent memory, with both fighters bringing elite skills to the table.
