Amanda Nunes Derides the Lackluster Nature of Potential Women's Bantamweight Title Shot Eliminator at UFC Vegas 121

The buildup to the women's bantamweight fight between Ailin Perez and Norma Dumont at UFC Vegas 121 indicated that the matchup would be an intense one. But it can be safely said that the former divisional champion and widely accepted women's MMA GOAT, Amanda Nunes, was nowhere near impressed with the quality of the fight.

Amanda Nunes Publicized Her Disgust With the Women's Bantamweight Fight Twice

The UFC Vegas 121 women's bantamweight fight between Perez and Dumont got the fans hoping for a bad-blood fight due to a highly animated final face-off where Dumont threw condoms and money at Perez.

However, the fight turned out to be far more dull than what Nunes and most other fans expected. Both Perez and Dumont looked extremely cautious in terms of engaging with each other. Perez's occasional takedowns earned her a unanimous decision victory in the end, but Dumont found the decision hard to accept and expressed her bewilderment openly inside the octagon.

Nevertheless, Nunes felt so disgusted with the quality of the Perez vs. Dumont encounter that expressing her opinion once didn't satisfy her. Initially, 'The Lioness' took to her own X account and described her opinion about the fight with a single word. Nunes wrote, "Omg" along with two emojis showing that she felt like vomiting after watching the encounter.

Subsequently, Nunes visited the comments section of an official X update from the UFC that displayed the end of the Perez vs. Dumont encounter. She pointed out how the two didn't do much when it actually mattered, despite the bad blood between them during the buildup to the fight.

Her comment read, "I really thought they were going to fight today," with two more emojis.

Nunes wasn't the only one who felt the lack of action in the fight. Former UFC lightweight-turned-commentator Paul Felder also questioned Perez about the lackluster nature of the fight during her octagon interview. While Perez replied that she did her best, most fans probably wouldn't be convinced by her answer.

Before the fight, Perez demanded a title shot if she came out victorious against Dumont. She also reiterated her demand after getting the job done. However, with the reigning women's bantamweight champ, Kayla Harrison, set to defend her title against Nunes in the co-main event of UFC 334, it will be interesting to see if Perez's allegedly lackluster performance suffices to earn her the next shot at the bantamweight title.
