Boxing Insider Drops Honest Take on why Conor Benn has Very Little Chance Against Ryan Garcia

This Saturday, boxing fans will witness an electric fight between Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia. While Garcia is the defending champion, the British boxer will look to clinch the title to cement his maiden boxing championship. However, ahead of the fight, promoter Eddie Hearn had some bad news for Benn’s fans. 

Eddie Hearn Believes Conor Benn can Get Caught in Chin Early On

Hearn recently analyzed the upcoming hype fight. Looking at both the fighters’ abilities, the promoter felt that Garcia had an edge over the 29-year-old. This will be the first time Benn will compete in the 147 lbs category. On the contrary, Garcia has proven himself in this weight class with his elite striking already. Thus, one sudden punch to the chin might end things quickly. 

Hearn said, “If he gets hit flush on the chin at 147 against Ryan Garcia, the fight is over.So he’s got to rely on his ability but he likes to engage, he likes to jump in. Ryan is so reactive, he’s a great counter puncher”

Surely, these are some hard words coming from Hearn. With Garcia already playing his mind games by not showing up at the initial face-off, the road ahead looks quite adverse for Benn. 

Conor Benn’s Manager Thinks Ryan Garcia is Fearful

In complete contradiction to what Hearn said, Benn’s manager, Keith Connolly, feels that Garcia is not at his most confident. The American champion pointed out that he wanted Benn to look ‘funny’ and that’s why he skipped the face-off. Despite the clarification, Connolly recently claimed that the champion was a bit ‘rattled.’ 

He said, “Ryan seemed very upbeat in the weeks leading up to the fight, and now that we've gotten to fight week, he seems a little bit rattled. I think Ryan's struggling to make weight, and I think that's going to weigh heavily on Ryan."

Conor Benn vs. Ryan Garcia is scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena on Sept. 12.
