Team Conor Benn Sounds Off on Ryan Garcia Ahead of All-Important Fight

Conor Benn will be entering one of the biggest fights of his career. With a lot going on with his life involving PED accusations, the 29-year-old has done a remarkable job to reach such a pedestal. If he can truly defeat Ryan Garcia this Saturday, Benn would round off an incredible comeback story. While the British boxer is looking confident about his chances, his manager feels that Garcia has shown signs of nervousness. 

Conor Benn’s Manager Thinks Ryan Garcia is ‘Rattled’

Garcia will be walking in as the favorite to retain his WBC gold. But ahead of the bout, the American professional boxer did pull off a weird shenanigan. In the first face-off, the 28-year-old did not show up. Speaking with Ariel Helwani, Benn’s manager, Keith Connolly interpreted the action as an act of nerves. 

Connolly stated, “Ryan seemed very upbeat in the weeks leading up to the fight, and now that we’ve gotten to fight week, he seems a little bit rattled. I think Ryan’s struggling to make weight, and I think that’s going to weigh heavily on Ryan.” 

He further stated, “I saw the same thing with my guy Filip last week. He really got into Itauma's head. He told him he was going to smash his face in, throw him out of the ring and send him back to high school. Conor sort of has that attitude this week.”

Connolly ended his statement by claiming that Benn has a lot of character and is willing to do things Garcia won’t do. 

Conor Benn Details His Tough Weight Cut At 147 lbs

In order to fight Garcia, Benn had to sacrifice a lot. While he usually walks around at 160lbs, the British boxer has cut down his weight to 147 lbs. Opening up about his transformation journey, Benn elaborated that this was not something that he intended to continue for a long time. During his interaction with the media, the 29-year-old boxer compared his journey to ‘hell.’ 

Benn said, “This is my last fight at 147. I feel unbelievable at 160. I've always wanted to win a world title at 147. I wouldn't have made it for any other fight apart from fighting for the world title. It's been four and a half years since I made it and it does feel like I've been through the pits of hell and had a fight with Satan and God brought me back to life.”

With all eyes on Benn, fans would wait to see what’s next.
