Chris Duncan has opened up about his devastating loss to Renato Moicano at UFC Vegas 115.

Chris Duncan was riding high on confidence leading up to his bout against Renato Moicano, as he was on a four-fight win streak. He squared off with Moicano in the headliner of UFC Vegas 115 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas in April.

Moicano was a big step up for Duncan compared to his previous opponents, and that was reflected in the fight. Despite having the momentum entering the bout, ‘The Problem’ got submitted in the second round and suffered a devastating defeat. Now, the Scottish has reflected on his loss and expressed what made the difference in the fight.

In his recent appearance on ‘Home of Fight’, Duncan reflected on his loss to Moicano. He explained that he felt physically and mentally prepared for the challenge and experienced no issues during his training camp or weight cut.

He viewed the matchup as a calculated risk he willingly took because he wanted to test himself against a more established name in the lightweight division.

“Nothing about the camp, weight cut, or anything was off. I felt better than I’ve ever been, I took the risk that night and wanted to fight one of the big boys of the division,” Duncan said.

Rather than blaming external factors for the loss, Duncan acknowledged that Moicano simply performed better on the night, with the Brazilian’s experience definitely playing a huge factor in the fight.

“Moicano’s experience showed, and he was just better and more elusive that night. That’s how life is, you live learn and don’t blame anyone else,” Duncan added.

Despite the loss, the experience he gained from sharing the octagon with skilled fighters like Moicano will definitely help him go up against the best lightweights. He is now set to make his return to the octagon in November.

Chris Duncan returns at UFC 334

Duncan, after his loss to Moicano, is set to return to the octagon against Drew Dober at UFC 334. Dober returned to the win column by knocking out Kyle Prepolec in October before following it up with another knockout victory over Michael Johnson at UFC 326 in March.

The event is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit. This will go down at Madison Square Garden on November 14.

Duncan will try to get the victory and be back in the win column, while Dober will do his best to extend his win streak.
