Conor McGregor has opened up about his much-awaited rematch against Max Holloway that'll headline UFC 329.

Conor McGregor has long been hailed as one of the biggest box office draws in the fight game. That said, the megastar hasn't competed in any professional combat sports contest since his lightweight MMA bout at UFC 264 in July 2021.

The Irishman suffered a mid-fight leg injury in that matchup against Dustin Poirier, resulting in a first-round TKO loss. He was later booked to return in a welterweight bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but a toe injury forced him out of the Chandler matchup.

McGregor is currently booked to make his long-awaited comeback in a welterweight MMA bout against Max Holloway. They'll headline UFC 329 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A., on July 11, 2026.

Conor McGregor reveals he got a great deal from the UFC

Over the past few years, the MMA community has been rife with speculation that potential disagreements over pay and miscellaneous agreement terms with the UFC might be the primary factors delaying Conor McGregor's comeback fight.

McGregor recently partook in an interview for MAC Energy, which is his energy drink brand and another addition to his business empire in the beverage realm. During the conversation, he opened up about his upcoming fight. He underscored his happiness about finally being able to return to the octagon, affirming that it's like music to his ears.

Revealing that he received a worthy deal from the UFC, McGregor stated, "My body is fresh. My mind is sharp. I'm ready to come back. I've got a great opponent. I've got a great deal off the UFC. I'm very, very happy. They honored me, finally."

The 37-year-old alluded to Holloway being a top-level opponent for his comeback. McGregor's Hawaiian rival is a former UFC featherweight champion and a former BMF champion.

Conor McGregor seemingly acknowledged his opponent's accomplishments. He also harked back to having defeated Max Holloway via unanimous decision in their first UFC encounter, which was a featherweight bout in 2013.

Outlining his objectives for the upcoming fight, McGregor said, "So, this is a quality opponent. And our last bout was martial arts mastery by yours truly. So, I plan on doing it again. I plan on showing my growth, you know, and my improvements in there."

"The Notorious" asserted that he's very excited about the fight and that preparations are going well. He indicated that he's spending most of his time at the gym -- having set up base at the gym and also training at his long-time coach John Kavanagh's gym.
