Edson Barboza details how he will find it difficult turning down the opportunity to fight again in some other promotion.

Edson Barboza had a sentimental end to his UFC career. During UFC 330, the veteran star fought valiantly but could not stop himself from getting knocked out. Following the defeat, the 40-year-old announced that he would be hanging up his gloves once and for all. However, just days later, Barboza made a U-turn on whether he would fight again.

What Does Edson Barboza say About Making Comeback?

Barboza recently sat down with Ariel Helwani. During their interaction, the former UFC fighter pointed out that he did want to stay retired. But he also hinted that if any other promotions come up with a good offer, it will be really hard for him to turn it down.

Barboza stated, “Any organization, don't call me. Please don't call me, don't call me my manager. Please forget me because, to be honest, I don't want to go back to fight."

In the final fight of his career, the UFC lightweight star went up against Estebian Ribovics. Following a gruelling first round, Ribovics got the better of the veteran as he was able to knock out Barboza in the second round. Meanwhile, reflecting on his decision to retire, the decorated UFC star detailed the exact reason responsible.

Edson Barboza Lost Vision, Triggering his Retirement Decision

During Barboza’s interaction with Helwani and MMA Junkie, the fighter pointed out complications with his eyesight. He detailed that during his fight with Lerone Murphy back in 2024, Barboza incurred an eye injury. And it kept getting worse.

He told Mike Bohn, “I almost lost my vision in my right eye. Most people have no idea about that. I can’t see out of this side. I feel my mind is there. I know everything I need to do, but my body is not following.”

Now, with hints about a possible return dropping, fans are eager to find out whether Barboza will actually consider making a comeback.
